She woke up to an empty space next to her in the bed her and David shared. She looked at the clock. It's 8am, time to get Joey to school, she said to herself. So she got up and slowly walked to Joey's room. "Joey, time to get up." she said. A moan came from the boy's mouth as he slowly opened his eye's. "oh, goodmorning mommy." he said sitting up. "goodmorning" she said. "why don't you get dressed and i'll make you some breakfast okay?" "okay."
She walked into the kitchen and began to make her son some cereal when the yellow sticky note caught her eye. She grabbed the sticky note and began to read it while she made the cereal.
"Goodmorning Jane, I hope you slept well. I'm probably on my way back from the facility by the time you read this. I just wanted to make sure you knew where I was. Tell Joey I said to have a good day at school.
I love you,
David"
Jane looked up from the note to see Joey sitting infront of her waiting for his cereal. "what's that mommy?" he asked. "It's a note from your father. He's says, 'have a good day at school'." Jane says as she hands Joey his bowl of cereal.
She looks at the clock again and it's now 8:30am. His bus comes at 8:45, she thought to herself. Joey finished his cereal and went to go brush his teeth. 3 minutes later he's done and has his backpack on. Jane waited at the door and gave Joey a hug and kissed his forehead. "Love you, Joey." "Love you too mommy."
She stood in the doorway so she could see him off as the bus left. Jane stayed for a moment then she noticed the voicemail light blinking. She walked over to it and pressed the button. "You have 1 new message from, Dr. Vern. " said the voicemail. "Jane. I don't know how to tell you this but the experiment went horribly wrong. The experiment mutated David into an actual wolf." all color left Jane's face. "I need you to call me as soon as possible so I can tell you what happened." The voicemail ended and Jane, frozen for a moment, finally got herself to move. She grabbed the phone and dialed Dr. Vern.
The phone rang for a moment then he answered, "Hello?" "What happened to David?" she demanded. Dr. Vern explained everything. "Now he's roaming the forest somewhere." There was a brief moment of silence then Jane hung up the phone. She went into the living room and sat down in a chair thinking. All of a sudden Joey crossed her mind...
...How was she going to tell Joey?...
