David's POV
I've never really gotten over the fact that my family's really gone. But she made me believe it.
I wish I hadn't said the words I said.
***********************************
"David, mom and dad are gone, when are you going to accept it?!"Yes. Those was the words that set me off.
Growing up with her, this has to be the worst thing she has ever said to me.
I can't accept it, she knew it better than anyone else. She was better at juggling her feelings, keeping calm and better at accepting reality than I was.
It wasn't the words that crossed the line, it was the tone.
The tone of annoyance that signals they've had enough with you. I waited, must be more words to come after, but they never came. She knew she had crossed the line, I could tell by her guilty expression. And yet did I control my temper.
"How could you say that Amy?".
She didn't say anything, she just stared at the ground, furrowing her eyebows together as a tear escaped from right eye.
"I-"
"Don't." I stopped her.
"You're not my sister."
************************************
If you must know, she died right then and there, nobody knew it was coming. I didn't even have a chance to take back my words. I don't even remember what killed her.She didn't say anything, she just disingrated to dust. The cold october air, carried it up in a spiral motion, and soon she was gone. I'll never forget the sadness in her eyes, that glowed with a dull blue.
That was the exact moment, that I accepted reality.
It cost me my only sister, and my last family member.
I've accepted it Amy, please come back. I'm sorry. I take back what I said, would you forgive me? Come back, I've made a mistake. I'm sorry. Please come back.
I repeat the same thing over and over and over again until I eventually lost count. If she didn't come back, it must mean that I'm not forgiven yet.
But I went back to denial. I tried to accept it, step by step, little by little.
I thought I was recovered, untill this girl named Stephanie appeared. She didn't know who I was, but she listened. Somehow, it was as if Amy was with me this very moment.
I looked up at the ceiling and drew a deep breath. I tried to recompose myself.
Alright David, anytime now.
"David." I said confidently, masking my face with glee.
"Stephanie." She mustered a smile and we shook.
"I've got a plan." I whispered as I heard the sound of footsteps.
"Let's hear it."
"No, I've got their plan."
Her mouth made an O shape as she came to a realization.
"Just follow my lead, okay?"
She nodded, she seemed clueless, but she agreed to go with the flow.
The footsteps gradually grew louder by each step, by the sound of it, it should be one of the guards.
Perfect.
