Baseball Boys

Chapter 3

It was 5:00 p.m and my brother, Dayton was getting ready for his game tonight. They we're going against the Tigers. They had gone against them once before but they lost. One of my friends named Cain started to help out my dad with a few things during their practice. They started winning and my dad started to get happier. That's a good thing!

I was having Bailey over tonight, because I didn't won't to go to the game alone or be stuck with a lot of older guys I hardly knew. "So your friend Cain will be here right?" Bailey asked trying not to smile.Bailey always has had something for Cain I guess because he's tall, tan, has blue eyes and has a great personality.

"Yes Bay he is. You can't be all over him tonight he does have a game to coach." I said giving her my serious face. Cain is a year older than us and he goes to school in Hope Town. My mom and his mom were best friends in high school so me and Cain have become pretty close he tells me every thing and I tell him everything.

"COME ON GIRLS WE ARE LEAVING." My mom screamed from downstairs.

"Here we go!" I say to Bailey as we walk out of my room.

I was wearing some Miss Me shorts and one of my old jerseys that says Calloway on the top and has number 8 in the middle which was my softball number at the time. I'm wearing my brown cowgirl boots to go with it. Bailey was wearing her old jersey that said James at the top and had 12 in the middle she had on some Miss Me shorts and grey toms. We walked downstairs to meet my parents and Dayton.

"You ready to win this game?" I asked

"YES!" Dayton yelled.

We walked out the door and headed to the game at the complex.

**The Game**

"Shelbyyyyyyyy!!" I hear a familiar raspy voice behind me.

Bailey and I turn around to see who it was."CAIN!!" I scream and run to him and jump in his arms.

"Hey!" "Oh my gosh! It's been like a year!" I say. Even though he comes down every week to help my dad coach I don't see him.

"I know nice boots by the way." I laugh and mange to mumble out "thanks" He's eyes cut and look past me to Bailey.

"Bailey?" He says to her and she smiles and just stands there like a retard. He walks over to her and looks at her. "Wow. You look amazing." He says as he stars into her eyes.

"Thanks. You don't look half bad your self." She said back to him.

They just stood there and looked at each other in amazement. Okay I've had enough of this lovey-dovey stuff between them to. My two best friends looking into each others eyes and looks like they are about to attach each others face.. Ha! You must be crazy. "Okay enough! Brake it up." I say as I walk in between them.

"Hey! Really?" Cain says

"Ugh.. I brought her. She's with me!" I say.

"Oh I don't mind hanging with him." Bailey says.

"Ugh! Cain go away with you cuteness! I won't Bailey back!!" I said pushing him away.

"I'm sorry." He turns around laughing and walks away. We stood there for a seconds as he walked up to the new guy Jake.

"Holy Crap!" I say stomping my foot. My best guy friend that is so T-Toally protective over me is talking to the guy I sorta have feelings for. Yay!

"OMG! Shell they are talking!" Bailey said holding on to my arm.

"I know! Lets go! Before they notice us staring." We turned and walked away from them and we start to walk in the field. We sat down on the bleachers talking and saying how we feel about this and that... It was just like a heart to heart conversation. I look over and see Jamie. The girl I. Do. Not. Like. she thinks she's the prettiest, has the bigger butt than everyone, has the prettiest eyes. Just everything! Guess who she was talking to! Cain and Jake! Not. HAPPING! "Cain!" I yell. He looks up and sees us.

We heard him say "We gotta go meet our girls up here." He said while taking baby steps.

"Oh okay well bye." She said. yeah. No comment.

They walk up the bleachers "You called. Backstaber." Cain says

"Okay, look I'm sorry about brakin' y'all's stair you'll have a lot more time to stair into each others eyes. Just not in front of me. Okay? Okay!" He is so... Ugh!

"Stay away from her." Bailey says

"Who?" Cain ask.

"Jamie" I say

"Why? I thought she was pretty." Jake says not being so sure of him self. I look at him and start to yell at him but it just didn't feel right to yell at him.

"Because she is a ..." I said.

"A.. What?" Jake said

"Hore" Bailey finish it off for me.

"Oh okay" the boys both say.

"Cain Roberts get your dirty but on this field right now!" My dad demanded on the intercom

"oh we also need Bailey and Shelby." We all walk up to the box.

"Can Jake come down to the field with me?" I heard Cain ask.

"Yeah sure." My dad agreed.

"You gonna sing the National Anthem?" My mom asked

"Yeah." They get me set up and everything and I start to sing.

"Man she just gets me more everyday I see her." Jake stated

"You like Shelby?" Cain asked

"Well I wouldn't say that yet. I mean she is cute and all but I wouldn't say I liked her. Why?" Jake said with his hands in his pockets.

"She's my best friend me and her have been together through everything. I'll do everything in my wheel to keep her from getting a bad guy. You, you don't seam that bad." Cain said handing Dayton a bat.

"What you like my sister?" Dayton asked.

"Maybe. Your sister is pretty." Jake replied

"Don't hurt her and I wont hurt you." Dayton said walking nto the field to bat.

"Looks like I have to be careful." Jake said

"Yeah. Dayton can hurt you. And don't underestimate me when I say hurt." They both laugh.

"Hm.. I wonder what they are talking about." Bailey said

"I don't know but I think I'm going to find out." I say and walk out of the box.
