Chapter One: Something Odd

I wake up to the sun shining through the pink curtains and onto my face. I yawn as I pull myself up out of the warm bed into a sitting position. I reach over to my desk by my bed and turn off the alarm clock. I turn my legs to the side of my bed and put my feet in my penguin slippers. I pull myself out of the bed completely and I stand up. I stretch my arms and walk over to my closet. I go through the clothes until I find my favorite outfit: My black stretch shirt with blue letters spelling out 'Diamond Girl'; my jeans that make me look skinny; and my black flats with white stars on them. I pull the outfit out and I get dressed. When I'm done, I go downstairs to eat some breakfast. I go to the kitchen and see my mom. "Hey kiddo!" She says. "I've made waffles for your first day of high school!" She points to the table that has a white plate with a huge waffle covered in syrup on it. I nod and hug her.
"Hey! I didn't get my favorite breakfast on my first day of high school!" My older brother, Sean, complains. My mom shrugs. "I don't know what you're favorite breakfast is," she defends. He sighs. "Scrambled eggs, bacon, and gravy! You should know that," he smiles. My mom returned it. "Well, maybe you should speak up more..." I listened to them ramble on while I ate my waffle. When I was finished, I put my plate in the sink. I went to the bathroom, then, to do my hair and brush my teeth. I curled my hair and brushed with mint toothpaste. I walked out of the bathroom when I finished and I texted my friend, Callie.

Brina: Sup Cal Girl?

Cal Girl: Nothin' much, Brina

Brina: Kk. Meet you in about 20 minutes

Cal Girl: K. :)

Brina: :)

I went outside with my brother to get in his car to get to school after getting bombarded with 'Goodbye kisses' from mom. My schoolbag was heavy on my shoulder since I had a crossbody bag. We got into the car and drove off. "So, I need advice," I started. Sean looked at me. "What kind?" He asked. "Well, school tips. Like, what to do and wht not to do," I said. He nodded. "I get you. Okay, tip number one: Never make eye contact with the teahers. Those girls and guys are as old as dirt except for a few, and if you make eye contact with them you'll be scarred for life," he laughed and I did, too. He told me about 20 more in 7 minutes. Soon enough, we were at school.
I walked out of the car and waited for my brother to get around. He stopped by me and we stared at the school. "Get used to it. This is your next four years." My brother is a senior, fourth year. He knows this place side to side, inside out, and upside down. He's a football player in the best team in town. He makes good grades, and is considered a 'Grade Cutie' as the girls say. He has brown hair and green eyes, like mom. I, on the other hand, have blue eyes and blonde hair, like dad used to. Dad. He died three years ago in a job mishap. He was a business guy who managed the building. He was shot by a protester. I cried myself to slep that night and I didn't attend the funeral.
I walked up the sidewalk and to the statue. Callie and the boys are supposed to meet me here. I saw Nickolas walking up to me. Let me intrduce these guys. Okay, first we have Nickolas Nolan, my bestfriend. I've had a crush on him since, like, forever. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and pale/light tan skin. Next, we have Jackson Asher, the best drum player ever. He has mad drum skills that are so amazing that they could blow you away. He has light brown hair and greenish eyes. After that, we have Daultin Chase. He has dark brown hair and tan skin. He used to play basketball but he got bored of it. He has beautiful brown eyes, though. Lastly, we have Charlie Declan. He has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. He's a nice guy who used to play basketball with Daultin. Like I said, they gave it up.
"Hey," he waved. "'Sup?" I smiled. "Well, do you know where the boys are at?" He asked. I nodded, "They're coming." And then they were there. We talked a little bit until Callie came. "Big news, big news, BIG NEWS!" She squealed. "What's up, Cal?" Jackson said. Callie smiled. "K-cool's having a party tonight and we're invited!" She celebrated. K-cool is my cousin who's real name is Jay. He's the best DJ in town, and probably in the whole world. His family is rich and has the nicest house in the neighborhood.
I smiled. "Are you all going?" I asked. They all nodded. "Great!" I said. This might be the most amazing day ever.

The confusion of the morning hd finally settled down at lunchtime. It was the one place (other than the jym) in the school that I knew the location of. We all sat together and talked.  For lunch, we had pepperoni pizza, breadsticks, and fruit. Callie and I made plans to go to the mall to prepare for the party after school. "So, be at my house at 4:00," I said. She nodded. "Um, Brina?" Nickolas spoke up. "Yeah?" I questioned.  He coughed. "Um, I need to ask you something after school, okay?" He offered. I nodded. "Okay."
So I spent the whole day wondering what he was going to ask. When the last bell rang to leave, I met up with him by the statue. "Um, I wanted to know if you wanted to go to the party with me," he said. I just stood there. Om my gosh! He was asking me! I guess I was lost for a moment because he then said," But you don't have to." I shook my head. "Of course I'll go!" I hugged him. He nodded. I'll pick you up at 8:00," he said. I nodded. "Sounds great," I said.
Sean honked the horn. I pulled away. "See you later," I waved. "Yeah," he waved back. I got into the red car. "What was that all about?" Sean pressed. I sighed. "There's a party tonight. At K-cool's house. Nick asked me to it," I explained. He nodded. "You really do like him," he smiled. "Yeah, but he doesn't like me. I know it," I said

My hair was curled and styled by the mall people. Um, the hair store 'Faye's.' I was wearing a knee-length dress hat was pink and white. I looked amazing. Nick came at 8:00 with Jackson, since Jackson is the only one old enough to drive. We arrived altogether at the party.

Lights, music, people, friends. My first party.
