I walk into the school wearing black leggings, a black batman shirt, and my usual star shoes. I didn't plan to talk to anyone at all, not even to Callie. I was walking to my locker when I saw them: Liz-Anne and Nick holding hands walking down the middle of the hallway. I sighed. I hate her so much! I saw Nick look over at me and a tear fell out of my eye. I heard him yell my name, but I ran off to the janitor's closet. I thought nobody would come after me, but he did. I was sitting down on the stool seat and Nick busted through the door and lightly closed it behind him. He came over and bent down next to me. "Go away," I sniffed. "You'll only make it worse." He sighed and said," Listen. I can't change that she's dating me, and I like her. But I can do this."
And then he kissed me. "Now I have to get to class. You probably should, too," he left. I sat there on the seat, amazed by what had just happened. The first bell rang, and I shot up. I'll probably be late. I went to my locker and got my books. The second bell rang and I speed-walked to class. I opened the door and Ms. Qair gave me a questioning look. "Why are you late to class, Ms...." she waited for my name. "Marcellius," I said, but she raised her eyebrows. "Sabrina. Sabrina Marcellius," I reassured. "Well, Ms. Sabrina, why are you so late to class?" She asked. The whole class was watching me. Then I remembered: Nick was in this class.
"I, uh, um...," I trailed off. Then I got it. "I arrived late to class due to my needing usage of the restroom," I said. Maybe she'll excuse me for my nice words. "Ha. Nice vocabulary. And you can use that to its extents in lunch detention tomorrow," she glared. "Yes Ms. Qair," I sat down. I didn't even pay attention in class. I didn't pay attention in any of the other classes, either. Since it was the second day, nothing important went on. At lunch, I sat with Daultin and my other friends while Nick sat with Liz.
I didn't tell them about him kissing me, though. When everyone except Daultin left, he started to talk to me. "Hey, uh, Sabrina?" He asked. "Yeah?" I looked at him. "Uh, does Friday sound good? I mean, there's a big school dance this Friday, and I wanted to know if you would like to go with me," he offered. I nodded. "Of course I would," I smiled. "Great, I'll pick you up at 7:30."*******
I started to walk to the sidewalk when I heard Liz. "Oi, Sabrina!" I turned around, and surely, her minions and Nick were standing with her. "What do you want?" I asked. She smiled. "You act so wonderful. But you're not. You're not as pretty as I am and you'll never be," she snickered. I yawned, "Wow," I said sarcastically. "That really hurts my feelings." "Well, at least I have a boyfriend," she taunted. That stopped me. Just then, Daultin ran up and said," Yes, she does. I'm her boyfriend!" I smiled. Maybe being with him isn't that bad. Liz turned and walked away. Nick ran up to Daultin and I. "You guys are dating now?" He looked worried. "Yeah. What do you care?" I said, then walked away.
I got into Daultin's car since he was giving me a ride home and we left. Today was just plain weird, odd, maybe. But whatever. I guess things shouldn't go to bad tomorrow. But the dance is this Friday, and I'm determined to put Liz-Anne and her minions to shame. And while I'm at it, I might just get Nick back.
