Dave Strider Mixed Feelings

Part Three The Next Day

The next morning I avoided Dave because he made me promise to tell him what was wrong, and I didn't want to tell him. We live in the same neighborhood and he usually walks with me to school. So I left for school thirty minutes early so he wouldn't walk with me or catch up to me. He usually waited outside my house til I got up, got dressed, and ate a little something for breakfast. God it took everything in me just to drag myself out of bed. I'm not a morning person. I got dressed as soon as I was up, ran down stairs,and grabbed a muffin to go. And shouted "Mom I'm leaving for school," at the top of my lungs before running out the door.

Even at school I avoided looking at Dave and talking to him. At lunch I ate in the cafeteria instead of outside with Dave, John, and Jade. And during forth block, Earth Science, I sat across the room instead of sitting next to Dave. When the bell rang signaling the end of of class, I got up quickly and ran to the door, but not before Dave beat me to the door. I guess his last name is Strider for a reason.

"Hey Y/N have you been avoiding me? I know I'm a cool guy and all, but is my coolness that intimidating?"

"Um, Hi Dave. How are you?" I asked him.

"Um, Hi Dave. How are you?" Dave said while looking into my eye's. At least I think he was. I really couldn't tell if he was exactly because of his shades though. "Stop changing the subject Y/N. Why are you avoiding me?"

"I'll tell you after school. We're going to be late to class if you keep blocking the door." I informed Dave.

"Y/N I don't care if I'm late."

"Well I care if I'm late. I promise I'll tell you later." I said while drawing a X over my chest.

"Cross your heart and hope to die..." Dave said

"Stick a needle in my eye." I nodded while I finished the nursery rhyme.

"Okay," Dave said nodding back, "I'll let you off the hook if you hang out with us after school."

"Us?" I said as Dave and I walked to our next block class together.

"Us as in John, Jade, You, and me, the one and only Dave Strider of course."

"But I have a project for Earth Science to do." I said I didn't want to see him and Jade all lovey dovey.

"What project? I don't remember a project in Earth Science." Dave said.

"Oh I'm sorry it's a art project I forgot to finish." I said trying to come up with a quick excuse.

"You don't have art till next semester," Dave said as we walked through the door to our next class. "Is hanging out with us a bad thing? Are you grounded and don't want to tell me" Dave asked me.

"Sit down Mr. Strider, and Miss. L/N." Mr. Leslie told us because we were still talking and standing when the late bell rang.

"Yes sir," I said as I sat across the room from Dave. Half way through class I felt the person next to me tap me on the shoulder. "What?" I asked the person who interrupted my class work.

"Here your friend wanted me to pass you this." I looked over at Dave,and he gave my a thumbs up.

"Thank you." I said to the girl who passed me the note. I opened the note. It read

Dave: So are you grounded, or are on your period or something? You've been really moody all week long. Why don't you want to hang out after school?

I thought for a minute before writing this.

Y/N: I'm just really tired that's all, but if you insist I'll drag my tired self with you after school to hang out.

I passed the note back. And started working on my class work again. Not before long I felt another tap on my shoulder, as the note was passed to me again.

Dave: If you're that tired let's hang out tomorrow. I'm sure Jade and John won't mind changing their plans.

I wrote back...

Y/N: Okay were are we going? You know to hang out tomorrow.

Then I passed the note. I waited for him to replie. About a minute later the note was handed to back me.

Dave: we're thinking of hanging out at the park for half the day, but we might go to the mall, or the music store after the park. Do you have plans this Saturday?

I wrote back this in replied.

Y/N: No I don't have plans, so I'll see you at the park tomorrow.

I passed the note to the girl who passed me the note who then passed the note to Dave. As soon as Dave finished reading the note the bell rang, and school was over for the day.

"Dave I'll see you tomorrow at the park." I said before leaving my class to going to my locker.
