"No, I can't," I said to my best friend at the time, Shannon.
"How come? Tomorrow is Super Bowl and all my family is coming over." She questioned my decline to her party.
"I told you, I got invited to go over John's for the game,"
"Ooooh," she said with a smirk. "You guys gunna kiss?" she asked. God she's annoying. Gotta love her.
"It'll happen when it happens," I said with annoyance. In the weeks I've been dating John, all Shannon has cared about was when we were going to kiss - or more...
"Ooookay, no tongue young lady." You're a year older than me, you're most definitely not my mother.
"Mhmm," I said with annoyance. "Where are we going today?"
"Dunkin'" she said, while applying mascara. My mascara. Best friends share everything, don't they? I took out the money I had and she did the same and we put it all into her wallet. God forbid we use mine. We bundled up and set out to walk the few blocks to Dunkin' Donuts. Was it worth walking in the cold for several blocks for coffee? Probably not. But it got us out of the house and helped us bond...at the time.

"Hey," he greeted me at the door the next day.
"Hi," I said, walking into his home with him.
"Oh, you didn't have to bring anything," he said, his eyes shifting to the platter of cookies my mom forced me into bringing.
"Yeah, I know," I said. He put the cookies in the kitchen while I pet his droopy dog, Murphy. Must smell Bingo. They'd like each other. We sat on the couch and watched T.V. We flipped through channels, not once checking on the game I originally came to watch with him. Whatever, I wouldn't have understood what was happening. I'm just glad to be here with him. We ended up laying on the couch in the den and 'cuddling'. I'd never actually cuddled with any of my previous boyfriends, they'd all wanted something else, something I had never given them.
We spent most of our time together talking, paying little attention to the T.V. Then there was a not-so-awkward pause between us and, bam. There it was, our first kiss. His lips were definitely a lot softer than I had imagined. (Yes, imagined). Was it my first kiss? No, but I wish it had been. After this came more, then, sadly, I had to leave soon enough.
