Hopping into the truck by myself this time, Blue gets in next to me. No one said anything for about five minutes, making this very awkward.
"I'm sorry for bringing you into the alley way like that. In not usually like that, I really hope we can be friends, babe." He says breaking the silence.
"Okay if we are going to be friends then you need to stop with the nicknames. I hate them, they make me feel less like a person, and more like a possession to someone. And this whole pretending to date thing, I make the rules as we go, got it?" I say standing up for myself. This is the first time I have done this since I was a kid. When I was 3, someone pushed me down the slide so I came back up the stairs and I slapped him then pushed him down backwards. It's not much of a story, but it's a big deal to me.
"Okay, no nicknames. Sorry if one slips out. But I need you to come to my house for supper tonight. I want to introduce you to everyone."
"But I'm not even wearing nice enough clothes. And I still haven't done my hair or anything." Why so early? We just made this deal.
One week, that's it. Then it's all over with this tart.
"It's fine. I'll bring you back to your place and pick you up at 4, that gives you 2 hours. Cool?" He says as he turns the corner into my driveway.
That drive seemed a lot faster than I thought.
"Okay. And thanks for lunch. It was.. It wasn't bad. It could have been worse." I say as I laugh. I turn to the door of the truck but he gently grabs my arm.
"Trin, I'm not like him. I'm not going to hurt you, or embarrass you. I like you, you seem like you'd be a good friend." He says as he lets go of my arm. I smile back and say, "I really hope we can be friends, Jeremy."
He looks at me confused and laughs awkwardly. "No one ever calls me that. It's almost like I forgot it was my name."
"Thank you." I say as I open the door and get out. Walking to my home, I look back and see he's staring at me, I feel my face heat up with embarrassment and slightly wave. He shakes his head and backs out.

....

"Hey baby girl, how was the lunch? Where did you guys go?" My mom asks as she comes from upstairs.
"We went to Santa Barbra for lunch. It was nice, I guess."
"I like that boy, I've known his mother since I was about 16. She's always talked so highly of him and his brother."
I thought he said his parents practically hated them?
"Have they always got along? Him and his parents..?" I ask
"No, she used to say that he and his brother would always fight, but she loved them both equally. But I haven't talked to her since the boys were both 16, so I'm not so sure of that anymore." She says as she laughs and goes out the door. "I'm doing some gardening, can you sweep and mop the house please?" She asks from the doorway.
"Yeah mom, I need to leave at 4 though, okay?"
"Oh, where are you going?"
"Blue's. We're having dinner with his family."
"You are? But you said you hardly know him?"
"I know.. It's nothing big, mum. It's only for a week that I need to hang out with him."
"Why only a week?"
"Oh it's.. Uh- for a school project." I didn't want her to know about the deal, she would say it's not a good idea and for me to stay away from that 'stuff'. She has always said to stay away from that stuff but I never knew what she meant by it.
"You never were a good liar, Trinity." She says as she walks to the garden across from the step.

....

"Shit! It's 3 o'clock!" I say as I check my phone. Running and straightener over my hair, I check my phone again. "3:43" damn. I got to get faster at doing that.
Quickly applying a little pink shimmer on my eye lids, mascara and winged eye liner; I go to my room down the hall from the bathroom and grab a pink sun dress.
About to text blue I was going to be late, I don't have his number. Shit. Groaning, I walk down the stairs quickly and step in front of the door. Peeking outside I see he isn't here yet. I reach to the right of the door into the closet and grab my pale pink flats. Slipping them on, I hear a car pull into the drive way. Great timing Trinity.
I look out the window once again and I see Blue walking to my front door. My mother stands up and starts talking to him. I can't hear what she's saying because of my wooden door, so the sounds are muffled. Feeling nervous about the plan, I wipe my hands on my dress, breathe out and open the door. Smiling at him, I walk over to him and my mom.
"Well Trin, you look lovely for doing a project."
"You've always told me to always dress nice. Even if I'm going somewhere casual."
"Yes, I suppose I do say that a lot," She says as she shakes her head slightly then starts to speak again as she looks between Blue and I, "So Red, where are your actually taking my daughter tonight?"
Snickering, I look over at Blue and say, "yeah Red, where are you taking me?"
"Trinity you know you're coming over for dinner, and respectfully Mrs. Nelson, it's Blue."
"Well whatever colour you kids are, bring her home by 8." She says as she walks back to her garden.
"Ready to go, sweet cheeks?" Blue asks me.
"Ready." I wonder why I never saw Blue this way. He's a sweet, caring, sarcastic but funny, attractive guy. Too bad he's related to Cam. As we start to walk to his car, he puts his arm around my back. He glances over and smiles as he opens the door to his vehicle and says, "Your carriage waits, My Lady," As he bows and puts his hand out and faces the seat of his hummer. Taking his hand I reply, "Why thank you, my kind sir," and step into the truck. Shutting my door, Blue gets into the drivers seat and starts the truck.
This week won't be so bad, I think to myself.
