I waited for the elevator, cold and tired as the plastic bag of apples and nuts I am holding rock beside me.
I was forced to buy overpriced shits of 7-Eleven because it's the only store that is open at midnight here. And, I badly need these foods.
I was held back in my part-time job in the little cafe tonight because one of my co-crew didn't show up. I wonder why though because, as far as I remember, I begged all of them last week to give this day to me so I can prepare for tomorrow's battle. And they all agreed. I sighed
It was exceptionally crowded today and I first thought fate is really going hard on me. Thank God Rosalie, my manager, didn't put too much work on me today so I can read stuffs.
I heard the ping of the elevator and let the passengers out first which is only a couple. I got inside, wanting to be home as soon as possible so I can start burning the midnight oil. As the doors closed, I heard a slurred voice from outside and I instantly press the open button.
"Thank you.", the red-colored hair man slurred as he stumbled inside the elevator and I just nod. He's wearing black too-fit-for-boy-it's-considered-tights skinny jeans and a black leather jacket with white shirt inside. This man is pissed drunk, from what I can see.
He rested his back on the metal walls beside the buttons, his head hung low as if he was sleeping. Suddenly, his head shoot up and he clicked different floors like a mad kid. Oh, fuck.
"Hey! I'm sorry but this elevator is not a playground and I badly need to get to my apartment.", I simply said.
He stopped and looked at me, his eyes squinted and barely open. "Who said this is a playground?", he slurred. "Well, yes. The world is a big playground and everyone likes to play... But, not to be played. Especially, girls." He finished with a laugh mostly to himself.
His words are deep but my mind pushed all what he said and repeatedly told me 'home'. I am now regretting pushing that damn button to open the doors for him.
"Look, you're drunk and I really have to pass an exam tomorrow. Can you please let me go first?", I said in slow motion, as if I was talking to a kid.
He didn't answer, instead, he smiled smugly and walked towards my direction. What the fuck is he doing? Oh my God, if this man get closer to me another inch, I'm gonna hit him with my apples. That would hurt, right?
He walked a little more and I froze, he's just an inch from and I can't seem to find the strength to get the apples even though I am just holding them. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Ping!
The doors opened the same time he fell unconscious on my chest. Luckily, I caught him. But, he's goddamn heavy. And, he reeked of alcohol and cigarette.
I stepped out of the elevator dragging him along with me. It was my floor and I could just run if he tries to do anything so I shook him, trying to wake him up. He just grunted and lay on his side like he's on a bed.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me.", I muttered to myself. I stood there, looking at him snore with my hands on both sides of my hips. I can't believe this is happening to me now of all times.
I contemplate whether to get him inside my apartment or just leave him here. But, it's cold. No matter how thick and expensive that leather jacket he's wearing is, it won't still beat the cold. If I leave him here, he's as good as dead. I sighed.
"Oh God, help me, please."
I slumped on the couch, catching my breath after I finished dragging the giant and successfully bringing him to my bed. He needs sleep, that's for sure. Because tomorrow, everything he's done today will get back at him.
