It's raining.
She's holding her umbrella as she stares at the dark street in front of her.
The rain is not too heavy but it's starting to get chilly. If there's one thing that she is truly sensitive of, it's the drop in temperature. She recalls the times when she used to bring a jacket to school everyday.
It's because I'm too skinny. Her short-sleeved buttoned-down red blouse is not exactly warm.
Nothing ever comes out of her efforts in trying to gain weight. At the age of 25, she's still probably 45 kilos and she will NEVER say that out loud to anyone. Maybe just to her bestfriends and immediate family members.
She sighed and starts walking again. She desperately wants to see the stars tonight and her hope that the clouds will disperse even just for a few minutes disappeared as the small raindrops fall from the sky.
It's been a long day and she's tired physically and emotionally. Her work has been stressing her out for the last few weeks and now, it's affecting even her relationships. Her mom's worried and constantly nagging; her brother is being insensitive and irritating more than usual; her friends are snubbing her for, well, being a snub and... him.
It's not her fault that he chose to confront her at the wrong time. She was exhausted and angry so it was no surprise when she lashed at him with everything she got.
Now, away from everything and everyone, she regrets every single word. She didn't mean to hurt him and heck, that look on his face...she feels like killing herself. A tear threatened to fall from her eyes as she held her left arm, the one holding the umbrella, with her other hand.
It's cold.
She's looking down on the wet road when she notice a long shadow ahead. She looks up immediately and saw someone standing in front of her. The person is holding an umbrella and... something else.
She stopped when she got a glimpse of his shadowed face. No...
She gulps and stares. He's standing a few feet away and he's looking right at her.
She can't speak. She doesn't know how long they stayed like that but all the while, the only thing she could think of is, He's here.
Her heart is beating so fast and it's aching..for him. She opens her mouth to speak but then, he starts walking towards her. She hangs her head and waited, shivering with all the emotions inside her.
He stopped right where their umbrellas touch and slowly folded his. She didn't notice the rain has stopped. He lets the umbrella fall on the ground and raised his arms. It's too late when she realized he's moving closer and then, something warm covered her body - a long coat.
She inhaled in surprise and was instantly lost in his scent. The smell that she loves made her close her eyes. It's really him.
She opens her eyes and looks at him. His expression is unexpectedly - warm. It's full of understanding and remorse. He slowly takes the umbrella from her hand and folded it. She let her hands sway on her side as tears started to fall from her eyes. She leans her head on his chest and gently sobs. He puts his arms around her ever so gently and carefully. She looks up.
Everything is comforting...and familiar...and perfect.
Stars appear.

A Night of Rain and Stars
RandomI was walking on our street one night when this story came to mind. It's not much (and very cliche) and you can all say this is more of an experiment in writing. I've always wanted to write a story/novel but never had the time to finish one so for n...
