     Kendall wandered swiftly into the library, her flat shoes tapping against the floor as she quickly went in the direction of a spare table. She laid her pencil case and bag on the table before getting some fresh printer paper.

     The brunette noticed that wooden seats were uncomfortable on her back as she unzipped the clear case and took out a blue biro pen. She tapped it against the table before putting pen to paper.

     Dear Blake,

     You may be out of my sight but not out of my heart.

     You may be out of reach but not out of my mind.

     I may mean nothing to you but you'll always be special to me!

     Could we go out for coffee some time? Maybe you could get hot tea because that's what you are a hottie.

     Kendall xox

     Not happy with the outcome of the letter, she crumpled the paper into a ball. As she walked to get another sheet of paper Kendall dropped the paper in the bin. Blake was sitting in the corner of the library revising for a history test. He looked up, seeing Kendall staring at him, her eyes widened and she scurried away back to the dark brown table.

     She fumbled around in her pencil case looking for the biro again before starting to rewrite the letter.

     Kendall had chosen to write a love letter, Nia had always been the one that had dispised English lessons, Kendall however waited slowly for her AP English lesson at the end of the day. As soon as she put her pen to paper ideas overflow her brain.

     Dear Blake,

     You probably know me as the girl next to Nia, very rarely is it that I don't leave her side. How come she got to be known very well but I didn't. Let's compare what we do, I'm currently sitting in the library writing this. Nia's probably perfecting her makeup in the restroom whilst text talking to her latest 'boyfriend'. See how that happened.

     I think your cool and I'm no photographer but I can picture us together. Why don't you meet me at 5:30 at Starbucks on Friday because who doesn't want to be cliché. You can get a hot tea because that's what you are, a hottie.

     Kendall proceeded to fold up the note and write his name on the front. She put her pencil case back into her black handbag before waving goodbye to Brynn Rumfallo, the library assistant, with a smile.

     After putting her stuff away, she thanked god for free periods. Across the hall was Blakes locker, checking the hall first she carefully slid the note into his locker using a slit at the top of the blue, metal locker.

     "What are you doing Kendall?" Kendall heard Hunters voice behind her.

     "T--the...office sent me to put this...letter...no form for him to sign for him to go to a...chess match." The sixteen year old girl stuttered.

     "Blake doesn't play chess, there's no doubt that you're lying."

      "He's been...subbed on...r-randomly...a player on the chess team...switched schools, yeah."

     Hunter walked away, looking back as she rushed into the girls restroom. Kendall dived into a free cubicle. The girl took 5 deep breaths before scrambling in her skinny jean pocket. A tiny packet of pills were in a box no larger than a chewing gum packet.

     Her mothers voice circled around her mind as she opened the pack, "only take one in emergencies." She swallowed one, then another before exiting from the tiny cubicle to splash some water on her face.

     Nia flopped onto her bed with her yellow iPhone5C in one hand and a piece of paper in her other. Written on the torn sheet of paper was a number, Blake's number specifically. After adding him into her contacts, the African-American girl took a sip of diet Pepsi that she stole from her brother.

Nia: Hey boy ;)

Blake: Hi Nia

Nia: let me tie your shoelace I don't want you to fall for anyone else.

Blake: lmao :) wtf

Nia: u remind me of my chapsticks because you da balm.

Blake: wtf r u doing nia?

Nia: when u sneeze I don't say bless u because it looks like god already has blessed u.

Blake: tf these r the best pickup lines :)

Nia: if being sexy was a crime, you'd be guilty as charged.

Blake: good 2 know.

Nia: I'm running out of good material here, do you get what I'm saying though.

Blake: even though I do know I wanna see you text me it.

Nia: u want 2 take me 2 a movie and hold my hand and shit?

Blake: I'll pick u up saturday at 7:00 x

Nia: xox

     Nia, smiling, plugged her phone in to charge. "Kendalls dead in the competition, she thinks she's going to get him faster with pickup lines. She doesn't know who she is messing with," Nia muttered to herself.
