The next morning I received a text from Natalie, telling me that they wouldn’t be able to pick me up to go to school.

I guess I’ll just have to hurry up a little. I thought while walking to the bathroom and doing my daily routine.

After looking at my reflection in the mirror, I walked out of my room and to the kitchen. It amazed me how having a boyfriend managed to turn me into a girly girl, worrying about how I looked.

“Hey mom.” I gave her a peck on the cheek and sat down at the small kitchen table.

“Good morning sweetie.” She smiled. “Here you go.” She put a plate with a cheese omelette in front of me.

“Thanks.” I said and began eating. I looked at my phone to see the time. I still have time.

“Hey kid.” Ian greeted me, ruffling my hair. “Good morning honey.” He gave my mom a sweet kiss.

“Hi darling.”

I checked the clock again, and seeing as I already had to go, I swallowed down the rest of the omelette.

“I gotta go.” I took the dirty dishes to the sink. “By mom.” I gave her another peck on the cheek. “By Ian.” I hugged him quickly.

“By kid.”

“By honey.”

I grabbed my messenger bag and walked out the door. This time I had to wait a bit for the bus to come. When it arrived I got in it, saying hi to the driver.

I walked to the back of the bus and took a seat near the window on the second to last row. I placed my bag on my lap and got my iPod out, but before I could listen to any music a girl sat down next to me.

Usually no one sits next to me. Well, it’s not as if I ride the bus every day, but anyways.

She had auburn, straight hair and green eyes with freckles under them. She seemed somewhat familiar to me. I think she’s from the same year as Justin, but where have I seen her before? She was cute, but seemed to be pretty shy. She had her gaze glued to the floor of the bus. What’s up with her?

The bus stopped at another corner, and to my surprise Brent got in. What the hell is he doing here? Doesn’t he have a car or something? He had a scowl plastered on his face.

He stomped to the back of the bus, pushing some people away from his way. When he got to our seat he said. “Look.” He scoffed, obviously taking his anger out with us. “The freak and the loner together.” He said with his retarded-sounding voice. “I try to imagine you” He pointed at the girl beside me. “with someone but I can’t.”

Oh God! He’s so annoying. “Really?” I retorted. “Well, I try to imagine you with a brain, but I can’t.” I put a fake pity face.

“What did you say?” He growled offended.

I rolled my eyes. “If I throw a stick will you leave?”

“What?” He really seemed confused this time.

“Ugh, just fuck off.”

He squinted at me, but just sat at the back of the bus mumbling something I couldn’t really understand.

“Thanks.” The girl said quietly.

I turned around to look at her. “No problem.” I smiled. “I’m Rae.” I stretched my hand out. “Rae Davies.”

She looked at me and then at my hand, shaking it slightly. “I’m Olivia Grace.” She smiled shily. “You’re the one dating Justin Robins, right?” She asked. “The new boy?”
