As we walked down home from school Nikhil was the one to start the conversation with me. “Hey Al, how was school? Al, I guess I am talking to you……….Sam what’s up with her? And Sam in answer replied “Nic you know Al…I mean Alisha, she doesn’t like to be called that”.”She hates nicknames.” And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Mom kept my name Alisha for some reason right, so respect that. I had an answer.
We are three siblings, eldest of us is Nikhil or as he prefers Nic and me and Samantha a.k.a. Sam are fraternal twins. Fortunately I have got everything that a normal person desires. Loving, caring and understanding parents, an awesome, perfect though possessive elder brother and a gorgeous and ‘overfriendly’ small sister. Yes she is small, seven minutes do matter….a lot. We live in Los Angeles, California.
My mom is a superwoman. She is just in every way. When she has to love she does but when she has to scold she doesn’t step back. Her day starts at 5am in the morning. She is off for a jog and comes back to wake us up and then makes our breakfast. After we’ve eaten and gone she goes off for her yoga lessons. Our mom is a fitness freak I tell you. After she comes back she makes our lunch and then is off to “DAW (Directors of Animal Welfare)” an organization that takes care of animals. She comes back in the evening to make something special for us. Apart from the normal daily chores she is the one all three of us go to for advice or for sharing secrets. Dad is a little laid back on the other hand. We ask him to buy something he will but helping us with our homework, not his cup of tea. In the small span of time we spend with him he either plays basketball with us or teaches us the virtues of life (honesty, love, politeness and not to forget partying) and how we should remain attached to our Indian roots. All in all our parents are real fun.
My big brother is, in one word perfect. He is the captain of our school soccer team and a flawless striker. Though he is not really a singer he plays guitar. He has that perfectly chiseled body that most of the guys envy and on which most girls drool yeah me and Sam too. Mr. Miller our principle adores him and even though he is not the topper the teachers love him because of his down to earth, oh so helpful and flattery nature. And obviously it’s not hard to conclude that he has dated almost all the girls of the school even when he has never been interested in any of them but as he says ”I date them so that they don’t have a broken heart.”Yeah right their hearts don’t matter when he meets a new chick. But even after his flirty nature he has everything that a girl would want, be it girlfriends or sisters. He might pretend not to care who we are dating but he keeps a close eye. That so doesn’t mean he’s interfering it’s just that he cares for us a lot. In short, sam and me, we are his life!
I am the middle one- Alisha. And…..umm… actually that’s all. My other aspects of the personality will come up as you read further!!
Last but never the least, smallest of us all is Samantha. I’ll refer to her as Sam all through. She is the prettiest girl ever. And she might have the largest Barbie and merchandise collection. The things she values the most are family, basketball, partying and her iphone. It makes a large part of her life. Look at her randomly and you will find her inside it. Her hobbies as you’ve guessed right are shopping and texting. And yeah like Nic she too is the school hottie. And she has found her so called “true love” six times already. The best thing about her is she loves brands……okay just kidding, what I love about her is she values mom and dad the most. Never gone against them and doesn’t even think twice before doing what they say. And so she’s dad’s favorite as well. May be it’s this nature that makes her so gorgeous - light brown eyes and long hair, which she went a little overboard to color blonde. Just so you know I’ve dark brown wavy hair a little below the shoulder. Coming back to Sam, she is 5 ft. 7 inch. Well she is quite proud of her height so I had to mention. And what else, I guess that’s it. She’s just our lovely princess.
