My closed eyelids began to twitch, my body was stiff with coldness. A deep growl came from within the depths of  my stomach. A migraine throbbed repeatedly in my head, it was unbearable! The weight of my eyelids lessened slowly, as I began to open my eyes, being greeted by an unfamiliar hospital room.
I jolted, sitting up in the bed frantic with questions of my being here. Then, all of the memories started to flow back into the back of my head, leaking through my thoughts. Taylor..
My vision was suddenly blurred by my own salty tears. She's gone, and it's my fault. I couldn't stop the tears from flooding over the sheets as I weeped. I was torn apart, a piece of me was yanked from my very soul. This wasn't suppose to happen.
A blonde nurse barged right into the room, interrupting the scene of my falling apart. She hesitated to speak to me, as if she felt that she was intruding.
"Good morning ma'am" she said as polite and formal and she could be, handing me tissue from the sink.
"Thank you.." I sniffed, receiving the tissue.
"Good news, there's nothin wrong with you, no blood lost, you were just intoxicated, that's why you passed out."
I just stared off, not even acknowledging her "good news". I don't want to hear about my health, that's the last thing I'm concerned about. But how could I blame her for trying, this is after all her job. I clenched my fist into a ball, digging in my flesh with my nails.
"Umm.." She said fidgeting,"There are also some visitors here for you."
I glanced up with confusion, "who?"
"Taylor Johnson and Lionell Ruské." She read off the stack of papers she held tightly in her hands.
This couldn't be real,my heart started to beat out of my chest. Joy overwhelmed my body and I wanted to leap out of the bed and hug the shy nurse for telling me this news.
"Do you accept?"
" Yes!" I started to sob with tears of happiness," Oh god,yes !!"
The nurse smiled and nodded, and paced out of the stocky door. I smiled back, knowing my head was hurting too bad to make any kind of muscle, but I still smiled. But then I realized something. Her name wasn't the only name called.. Who is Lionell?
I was lost in thought for at least ten minutes, until the hefty door was opened with a loud bang. She stood in the doorway, dressed fancy with her hair neatly combed. She shot me her cunning smile while holding both arms out for me to embrace her.
"Taylor!!" I shouted, throwing the thin covers over to the side, leaping out the bed into her embrace.
I let it all out, pouring tears, ruining her preppy outfit which looked brand new. I held her close to me by the head.
"Dang, why are you so emotional?" She chuckled, patting my back.
I stopped and leaned back to examine her face. It was like the incident never happened. But I knew it did, her eyes .. I will never forget how she looked at me when that bullet was lodged in her back. I could still feel her own warm blood in my hands.
"But you were-"
"Look Khelie, I'm fine, see?" She smiled her award winning smile, " Look at you, your eyes and nose all red.."
I half smiled, I guess she was right. She's fine and that's all that matters. I hugged her again, this time tighter than the first one. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes and gasped out loud, jumping back only a footstep away.
It was him, dressed in a white , dingy t-shirt and torn up jeans that hung to his hips in the most sexiest way. He had both hands behind his back, grinning at me, then quickly revealed the banquet of gorgeous blood red roses out to me. His hard to forget eyes pierced right through me, melting my insides. He flashed me that recognizable smile that I adored so much.
"Glad to see that you are okay.." He said, examining me from head to toe," I got these for you."
Oh my god, his accent is beyond sexy. I hesitated as I took the flowers from his hands.
"T-thank you.."
He half smiled, leaning against the wall, putting his hands in his pockets with ease.
"You're very welcomed."
I blushed, avoiding his gaze, turning to Taylor who was bound to start teasing me.
"Khelie are you blushing?" She said crossing her arms grinning playfully.
"Would you get my nurse to get my clothes so I can change?" I said, deliberately changing the subject.
She shrugged, "sure, but I have to leave on my way out"
My eyes widened, "who's going to take me back to the campus?"
She nodded towards the direction he was standing. He tuned in and shrugged his shoulders.
"But," my words were choking me," I don't know him!"
"Well get to know him!" She said, beginning to walk out the door, " since you kissed all over him last night!"
My chin dropped to the tile floor. I knew my face had to be at least ruby red by now. I began to protest, argue my claim but she interrupted me with a goodbye kiss on my cheek and hurried out the door. I stared at the door, dumbfounded. I can't believe she did that. He chuckled and stood up, dusting himself off.
"I'll wait for you outside."
We were now in his foreign jet black Lamborghini, flying down the highway. By the way he drives, I made sure my seat belt was strapped right across my breast.
I turned to stare at him while he drove with one hand on the steering wheel and the other halfway out the window. His blonde curls blew relentlessly in the wind. His features were relaxed, without a care in the world. My eyes began to wonder to his chest. I could see his six pack peaking through his v-neck white t-shirt. His arms were incredibly toned, buffed to a point. Then my eyes began to wonder lower..
"Are you okay?" He said startling me out of my fantasy.
"I'm fine." I said bitterly.
"Alright." He said expressionless, staring at the road.
It was quiet for a long time, until I decided to confront him about the incident.
"You were shot."
"Pardon me?"
"You were shot in the head!" I said louder for him to hear," Kenny shot you!"
"Oh that guy." He signed, "It didn't hit me, nearly grazed me."
I glared at him," yes it did! I saw it!"
"You were also drunk from all of those drinks."
I got quiet, he did have a point.. But I knew what I saw.
Breaking the silence, he chuckled under his breath. I narrowed my eyes at him, with my right eyebrow raised.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh nothing.." He said still laughing under his breath," just memories flowing back into my mind."
"What.. Memories?" I squirmed in my seat, suddenly uncomfortable.
He halted the car in a jolt at the red light and turned his head to face me.
"When you basically threw yourself at me, kissing on me.."
My cheeks burned," T-That's not true! You kissed me !"
"Of course I did, any smart man would, if they were given that opportunity." He smiled, " It was so cute how you were begging me to hold you."
"That's I lie !" I screamed, face red as a ripe cherry.
"But don't worry, nothing happened." He began to push on the gas as the light switched to green," I am a gentleman."
I sighed in relief, sinking down into my seat. "Thank you, I really mean it."
He shrugged, "I'd just rather for you to be sober if we ever do anything."
My mouth gaped open, I can't believe he just said that.
"Think about how much fun.." He bit down on his bottom lips gently, eyes still pierced on the road, "I could really make you happy Khelie."
I didn't respond, I was letting all of what he said sink in. I looked down at the palm of my hands, fiddling with my fingers.
"That's if you let me.." He said in a low tone, glancing at me with his sapphire eyes.
My breathing paused, I could feel my skin boil. Sensation swelled over me in numerous of places. Why was he so irresistible?! If I didn't have any sense I would of told him to pull over and thrown myself at him right, then, and NOW. But I knew better than that, but I also knew any other girl would.
" Well!" He said in a sudden, bubbly mood,"Is this your dorm?"
I quickly glanced up, I was completely unaware of the fact that we were already outside my dorm so fast.
"Yes.." I finally spoke up.
"Here," he unlocked the doors," I'll get the door and your stuff for you.
I rolled my eyes, " That's unnecessary."
But he was already out and moving, grabbing my belongings and flowers, heading to the other side of the door. He easily opened the door with his free hand and waited patiently until I got out. I quickly got out, already holding my hands out to receive my stuff. He pulls back, not allowing me to do so.
"I got it." I said, a bit irritated with him.
He shook his head," That's not how I was raised."
I threw my head back and let out a groan, "Fine!"
I nearly stomped my way up the stairs while he was right behind me, chuckling at my little fit. As soon as we reached the top, my door was visible to the left, standing tall and wide against the velvet walls. I fumbled for my keys in my pocket as I stepped on my cheap doormat. Pulling them out, I shoved the key that had a cartoon shaped house into the lock and twisted it abruptly. The door knob clicked, and I turned and pushed the door wide open, hitting the inside wall.
"Angry much..?" He said, behind me, so close that I could feel his steady breathing.
I rolled my eyes one again and stepped into the atmosphere of my dorm.
"Can I have my stuff now?" I said, leaning against the door frame.
He grinned and handed me the big white bag. I slightly set it down by the door in the inside of where I stood.
"Thank you for the ride.." I muttered, not making contact.
He smiled without saying a word and took two steps closer to me. My eyes were wide with alarm as the distance between us shortened. He wrapped his muscular arms around me, squeezing me for a brief second. He lets go and steps back, watching my reaction closely.
"Bye Khelie, see you soon." My name rolled off his tongue like melted caramel on chocolate.
"Uh bye.." I was nervous out my mind," Lionell"
His eyes sparkled as I said his name, as if it enticed him for me to say it. I smiled my shy smile, as I closed the door, slowly. I quickly did my routine in double locking the door and let out an exhausted sigh. Why do I feel like I was friend zoned by that simple hug?!
"Whatever." I said out loud, kicking my warn out shoes off at the entrance.
I slightly moped all the way to the kitchen area, making my way to the calendar to check my agendas. Glancing at it, a square like lime green sticky note was pressed against the center. I squinted my eyes to adjust to Taylor's messy hand writing.
Hey, don't stay up too late! I won't be back until the morning! ;)
Oh no. She was not going to bail out on me for a whole day after I practically thought she was dead! I have a bunch of questions to ask, and I wanted answers.
I ran to the bag that was left at the entrance, sitting there slightly disturbed. I quickly tore a hole in the side, not having enough time to open it up. I rummaged through the bag, finally feeling the metal touch of my phone. I yanked it out, and as soon as I turned it over to put my passcode in, I saw a torn piece of notebook paper taped to the front screen of my phone. It had the most beautiful cursive handwriting I've ever seen..
If you ever need me, for any reason at all, call me. 601-523-6948
-Lionell
I was smiling really hard as I read the note, it was actually impressive. The fact that he didn't ask me for my number and giving me the choice to call him or not is very much like a gentleman.
I shook the naughty thoughts out of my head and stood up, taking the note off my phone. I nearly skipped the refrigerator, suddenly happy. I took one of the old fruit magnets, placing the note on the very top. I stood back, admiring the note like it was a master piece.
Suddenly, three loud wraps went across the door. Anticipation overwhelmed me as I power walked towards the door.
"Who is it?" I called out in the sweetest voice I could manage, as I hoped I would be responded by that sexy accent.
"Poetry!" A female voice yelled back, slightly aggravated.
My smile faded, disappointed. I went through the process of unlocking the door, and opened the door with poor interest. My eyes narrowed at her, wondering what was her purpose of being here. Her hair, well her extensions, was nearly to her behind, with vibrant blue ends. They were filled with spiral curls, as if it wasn't too long ago that she wanted her hair. Her face was perfectly powdered with foundation, giving her a fresh, glowing, natural look. Her full set of lips screamed sexy as they were painted with a vibrant blue. She wore a tank top, skin thought, and I could tell that she flat out didn't have a bra on. Her small perky breast were practically playing a game of peekaboo with me. And at last, to top it off, she had on a pair of pink shorts, way above her thigh.
I forced a smile on my face," Hey Poetry."
She looked pass me, eyeing the background behind me, "yeah, hey Khelie."
How rude, I thought.
"Do you need anything?" I said, my smile almost cracking.
"I saw that you had company." She said now looking at me grinning.
"He's not here, if that's what you're asking."
"Too bad." She sighed, crossing her arms,"I was looking forward to meeting him.
I can tell, I thought.
"I'll tell him next time." I lied.
"You know.." She began staring in my eyes," I've never tried a white boy or had any interest in them, but that one right there.. Goodness gracious! I might just make an exception!"
I silently fumed within the inside. Why is she so disrespectful?! He could be my boyfriend for all she knew, and she didn't even ask or imply if he was or not. It is as if she thinks it would be impossible for me to pull someone who looks like that!
"Oh Khelie." She fake fainted, putting her hand on her forehead, " I must know his name."
I shot her a quick glare," George Bush."
With that being said, I slammed the door in her face, not even feeling like locking the door. I stormed to my room, sweating under my breath. I flipped the switch of the light and watched as it flickered on. I examined the room. My side of the room was sparkling clean, not a spot in sight. While on the other hand, Taylor's bed sheets were thrown each-way , and her clothes scattered over the floor. I sighed, guess I will straighten up a bit since I have nothing else better to do. I walked over to the tiny trash can and looked into it to see if it was full. To my surprise it was empty, besides the contact lens holder and bottle of solution thrown away.
I paused, deep in thought. Taylor wears contacts, she's the one who has bad vision. So why did she throw them away?
I shook the thought out of my head and shrugged. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. I walked over to the mountain of clothes and began to fold.
