Say Anything That Can Make This All Okay

One

He sighed exasperatedly.

"You dont get it,-" he paused, moving slightly closer to Thanasi. Reaching out, he tucked a loose strand of hair behind his ear- "No one will know that it's us. It's not like we have a choice either. They have us wrapped around their little finger. If we don't do this now, we will get killed anyway..." Nick paused again. Looking at him, he realised Thanasi was so young. He could see the innocence shine in his eyes. Since when did someone like him get caught up in something like this?

Thanasi nodded slowly, his sun kissed skin radiating a healthy glow. How he wished he could just run.

Run to some place far away, like a fairytale. With Nick, the two of them together. How much sweeter the world would be.
His little secret was kept pretty discrete. But it was slightly more obvious to Nick himself that the younger Australian had a crush on him.

"Come here," he said gently to Thanasi, pulling him into a hug "Everything will be okay." They both sighed.

If only Nick was right.

His phone went off at approximately 5:41 the following morning. Thanasi groaned next to him and pulled a pillow lazily over his head. Nick nudged him sharply in the ribs, before picking up his phone. It was Novak.

"You awake yet?" he said.
"Now I am yes," his voice was groggy with sleep. "What do you want?"

"You and Thanasi. Now, outside HQ. Be there in 15, okay?"

"Yeah yeah fine..." Nick mumbled before putting the phone down and swinging his legs over the side of the bed. He walked over to the chest of draws and picked up a fresh pair of boxers. He reached the first pair of jeans he found and sniffed them suspiciously. They would do. Grabbing an old Nike shirt, he walked over to Thanasi.
"Kokkinakis, wake up!! He shouted, pulling his leg slightly. This allowed Thanasi to fall flat on his face beside the bed.

"Ouch, watch it asshole" he moaned. Nick couldn't help but laugh. Thanasi rolled over so he was facing him. And Nick had to admit that he looked like the most adorable thing to ever exist.

"Where are we needed?" he said, voice raspy from sleep. Nick swallowed; that was kind of hot.
"Novak said HQ in 15."
He groaned again, attempting to stand up but then only to fall over again. "F**k" he said, crawling to his feet. Nick shook his head and went into the kitchen. He put the kettle on and some toast in the toaster. Coffee was then put into two mugs - one with sugar, one without. He preceded to make breakfast when Thanasi walked in. He was wearing jeans, an old polo and converse. He took the cup of coffee with sugar in it and smiled a thank you. They sipped slowly, glancing at each other every now and then.

Less then 10 minutes later, they left the house and walked. It was easier than driving seeing as they lived close and it avoided the problem of people becoming suspicious.

Walking into the HQ, they saw Novak and Rafael talking quietly to each other. Lleyton was looking through some files, while Bernard was laughing at something Roger had said; and Andy was lazily drinking tea.

"You're here!" Novak exclaimed, almost as if he didn't expect them to come.
Nick nodded and walked over to them, Thanasi following close behind. Novak gently put his arm around Rafael.
"Rafa, he finally asked you?" Thanasi said, smirking to himself. Rafa nodded.
"It took him ages, you know. Thought he would never ask." he replied in accented English. It had always been obvious Rafael had a crush on Novak, but he never said anything and Novak was slow to catch on. Now, they were closer than ever, and Thanasi would be lying if he didn't say he was jealous. Why couldn't this be him and Nick he wondered quietly to himself. Novak pressed his lips to Rafa's temple and he giggled to himself. Nick couldn't help but chuckle. They were very brave to get together, especially with what they were involved in. A loud intercom suddenly sounded, silencing the room. Thanasi breathed out shakily. He always got nervous before meetings. Nick seemed to sense this, and quietly slipped his hand into his. They glanced at each other momentarily, smiling in appreciation.

But Thanasi still felt nervous, no matter how much comfort he got, he knew what could happen if he messed up.

The consequences were deathly.
