Dream Job

Anna stepped unto Preston University campus and a feeling of pride and zeal overcame her. She looked at the buildings that offered comfort and a sense of belonging. She knew she had come to the right place; home perhaps. History and Linguistic was her major, she was very passionate, you could never get her to shut up about history.
"Hi I am Danae, And who are you"?
"I am Anna Hills, today is my first day".
"Newbie, if I have time to spare I will show you around, after lunch though".
Anna nodded in a manner that suggested she was overwhelm already and the day hadnt started. It was a rough first week but Anna pulled out quite well.
"I didnt think she would have survived a day but here she is surviving a whole week", Danae uttered to Theresa. "Danae to be honest I dont really care, but if she's worthy in your eyes invite her to Girls Night Out later". Later that night at Regency bar the girls drank their heart out. Anna left early though, as she felt out of place around them. Weeks went on and Anna settled in quite fine. She became close to Danaë, they hanged out more often, girls night out became a regular thing and it appeared as if they were long lost twins.
Theresa became overly jealous of Danae's close relationship to Anna and she tried to sabotage Anna. She continuously made up lies, stories after stories and endless rumours. It became overwhelming and the friendship began to fade. As a result Anna started to associate herself with Jade and Joe, as Danae avoided her in every way possible. Anna knew something was wrong but she didn't bother to ask Danaë as in her opinion Danaë should have expressed her concerns. It was November now three months since Anna had started working. Sometimes she felt overwhelmed by the work, but she went on all the same after all it was her passion to impart knowledge.
By now Jade was all ready to go, to celebrate her 22nd birthday at Cafe Le Oui. "Anna, Anna, Anna... Aren't you ready for heavens sake I have been waiting a year now."
"I am coming Jade just a few more minutes".
Another hour passed and Jade was at her peak, she had waited hours for Anna who was still not ready. "You know what Anna I will see you there whenever you are ready." Anna knew at this point Jade was waiting not another second, she rushed out of the bathroom, grab her purse and shoe, then ran downstairs. Just as she could closed the door she heard Jade's car sped off. "Oh shit she's pissed." However though Jade had wanted to remained upset at Anna, she couldnt and returned to pick her up. At the Cafe a large portion, better yet everywhere else except where we sat was reserved. I think we still had a space here because we had reserved the spot for two months now. It was only four of us at our table; Joe always looking handsome, Jade rocking that dress quite well and Rhonda warming up good air. The party next door was a celebratory one for some big deal that was signed. The men and women looked quite wealthy, I was surprised when the guy came and invited us to join the party.
I sat at the bar table while Rhonda, Joe and Jade enjoyed themselves.
"You look lovely, its been a long time since I have seen such a rooted black girl."
The voice was quite melodious and eloquent, it startled me.
"I am sorry to have startled you, I am Drew and you are?"
I slowly turned around and there he was Mr Perfect. His scent, his skin, his body, those eyes; it was like in that one glance I fell in love with a total stranger. Unfamiliar feelings gushed as I struggled to put words together.
"I am An----Ann-----Anna." I smiled nervously and embarrassed at the thought that I didn't know my own name.
May I sit he responded.
"You are more than welcome, I am the one intruding."
We sat awkwardly for a moment while he drank and I was soothed by his graceful smell.
"Who are you by the way" he said finally breaking the silence. And then in that one moment it began, we talked for quite a while introducing and discussing each other.
"Anna I am ready".
"Coming Jade."
"Can I have your number?" Drew asked.
I flushed. Then without hesitation I gave him the number then hurried along to meet up with Jade.
I waited up all night long but he didn't call and for the weeks proceeding that he didn't called either. I forced myself to forget him, after all what would such a rich guy be doing with a middle class lecturer. It was Christmas Eve, the squares were busy as people were making the rounds shopping and carrying on with their festivities.
"Anna Anna", I heard someone scream from a car as I strolled down 101street. The voice was familiar but it was quite distant. I turned around, just to see my high school teacher Mr Hêus, my body went up in flames. I had always secretly have a crush on him, and in this moment seeing him again looking so handsome and exquisite, my Christmas was made.
"Hey sir, its been ages."
"Yes indeed, I heard you have gotten the dream job you so desired."
"Yes Sir its been a amazing experience."
Mr Hêus offered Anna drinks and they left for Chill Out. It was the most posh bar around town. They spent a lengthy evening together discussing the pros and cons of life. He then invited her to his Christmas dinner the following day.
Bronx, Lot 09 Princeton the text said. Such a beautiful place, the houses were enormous, well decor and just lovely.
"Welcome Miss Anna, Anna Hills that is?"
"Yes in deed" Anna responded.
The house was even more magnificent inside. I was showed to the back of the house where the party was in high gear. Mr Hêus met me at the back door, introduced me to some of his friends then seated me. The party was great, music was all melodious and soothing, the food was appetizing and indeed the true meaning of Christmas was felt in our hearts.
"Anna, Anna breakfast is ready."
I turned in bed then opened my eyes, but my vision was blur. I winked my eyes twice again and there he was standing over me like a prince charming.
And then in a second it flashed in my head, what am I doing in this man's tshirt and panty only.
"Sir did we?" I asked nervously.
But before I could finish he shut me down sternly, "breakfast is ready."
And he slammed the door shut.
How could I ask that I thought to myself feeling stupid. Anyhow I got up went to the bathroom, freshened up, then went downstairs.
"Its not that I didn't want to but you were too drunk and vulnerable to have responded to such passion."
I blushed awkwardly.
"Sir please don't flatter yourself, you ain't all that anyhow."
Anna's phone rings.
"Oh shit, today is the Christmas party at work and I don't have anything to wear or a date. Jade is going to kill me!"
Anna sighs desperately.
"I can play the part if you want me?"
"Sir at this point even though I want to say no I don't have a choice."
Anna rushes upstairs grabs her personal item and leave running through the door shouting thanks at Mr Hëus. Anna searched the Preston Mall but no stores were open after all it was boxing day. She gave up on looking and told herself there must be something at home that she could wear. While going up 100th st she saw a very small sign saying open. She stopped the car urgently and hurriedly parked it and rushed into the store. The Store marked Muskaatê and a image of Drew flashed before her. Who was this strange invader that had stir up her emotions and disappeared without any trace. But her thoughts was disrupted by the store attendant.
"Madam, may I help you?"
But before Anna could respond there it was; a nude long lace dress, it was just perfect for her.
"I would like to purchase that one," she responded pointing in the direction of the nude dress.
"I am sorry Ma that dress is only for display there's no more in stock not before tomorrow."
Anna felt so crushed but she was adamant she wouldn't buy anything but that dress. But every time she asked the attendant she turned her down.
"Hello Anna, what are you doing here?"
Anna turned quickly to see Danaë with arms stretched out awaiting a hug.
"I am here struggling to buy this dress."
"But why, I am sure you can have it."
"No I can't apparently there's no more in stock."
"Nonsense Ms Mary go fetch the dress and hand it to her. And put it on my tab."
"Thanks much sweetie."
"No problem see you later."
Anna grabbed the dress, gave a smile then rushed out. While driving home she pondered to herself, how did Danaë have the lady sold her the dress. They must have some connection anyhow Anna had more important matters to worry about.
David Hêus and Miss Anna Hills seat no.5 have a wonderful time. David came around 6:45 and here we are at 7:30. The place was filled with extensive chatter and laughter.
"Hey."
"Goodnight Jade you are looking lovely."
"Oh thank you, you are looking amazing as well. Whose the handsome guy that accompanied you?"
"He might be Mr Right." Both laughs with each other amusingly.
Around them the party was settling as dinner was about to be served. They both went to sit at their respectful table.
