I heard mommy telling daddy that she wants me to go to school this year. kindergarten! I don't was to go! My friend Bobby told me that the teachers have scary beards! He also told me that if you did something wrong, then the teachers had the right to whip you! I don't want to be whipped!
Mommy says that teachers are there to help me learn. Bobby told me that she lied. He told me that teachers are there to torment me. He said that school is actually a place of slavery where the adults make the kids do all of their work.
Daddy tried to teach me the alphabet, but I refused to learn. Bobby said that if I learned the ABC's, then I would get harder work to do. I would have to write out all of the teacher's work! I'd have to do their taxes! Their paperwork! Everything!
I don't want that.
The thing is, Bobby thinks it's all funny. He finds it fascinating. He can't wait for me to start school. He can handle it, though. He's tough and not scared of anything.
I'm small and afraid of everything. Bobby doesn't like that. He wants me to grow a backbone. I thought that I already had a backbone. I can feel it right now! It's in my back! So why would he tell me to grow one?
