Kiss you

Luke:

It was Friday today, which meant that my date with Michael would be happening tomorrow. I had absolutely no idea where, or what we were doing, but I guess I was okay with that. I haven't had any contact with Michael since Wednesday afternoon, partly because I was too stupid to even leave him with my number.

After lounging around in my bed for a few minutes, I stood up and went over to my closet, sorting through my clothes. I might as well look for something decent for the date tomorrow. Ugh. There is literally nothing in here. How could Michael even consider someone like me, I can't even afford nice clothes for crying out loud!

A few minutes of aggressively searching my closet once again, I sighed out.

"I need to go shopping." I mumbled to myself.

Checking the time on my alarm clock, I noticed it had just turned 5pm. That should give me enough time, I suppose. I hurriedly dressed myself in a black crop top, black denim shorts, and black vans. I finished my look off with a leather jacket and pulled a beanie over my blond hair before exiting my apartment and making my way towards my usual pick up spot.

I had already be out for a little over an hour and I had 103 dollars in my back pocket. The sun was slowly sinking lower into the sky as I leaned my back against the chilled brick wall behind me.

"Hey, Luke!" A cheerful voice shouted to my left.

"Oh. Hey, Calum." I greeted back.

Calum was a prostitute as well and I had met him a little over 7 months ago. We hit it off pretty well and have been friends ever since. We usually help each other when one of our 'customers' get a little out of control.

"You doin alright?" He asked. "I haven't seen you since Tuesday night."

"Yea. I'm doing great actually." I smiled brightly. He raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? What's got you all smiles this evening, Mr. Hemmings?" He teased.

I rolled my eyes in a playful manner, "Nothing you need to worry about." I joked.

"Oh, come on, Lukey. Please tell me." He stuck his bottom lip out and began to pout.

"Okay, I have a date tomorrow." I admitted shyly. He gasped and his eyes widened in joy.

"Oh my goodness. Really?!" He squealed. I laughed at his reaction, nodding my head.

Suddenly, a grey jeep pulled up to the edge of the sidewalk and Calum smiled.

"It's for me, I have to go. Have fun on your date and make sure to give me the details!" He shouted as he neared the vehicle, soon entering and I watched as it drove out of sight.

I jumped as I heard the loud slam of a door. Looking over to the flashing red light of the clock, I checked the time, 9:47pm. It's about time he left.

I winced as I stood up from the springy mattress, redressing myself and walked towards the door. I quickly took notice of the dollar bills thrown out onto the night stand and gathered them up. 83 dollars. As I exited the run down hotel, I gave the receptionist worker the room key before entering the cool, autumn air.

When I made it back to my original spot, I sat myself down against the brick.

I moved my hand down to my back pocket and pulled out the wad of cash, counting it all up. 263 dollars. I can definitely find something fitting for a date.

As I stared at the cash, I began to feel my eyes water. I feel so pathetic going out and selling myself to strangers just to get money so that I can at least try and look decent for my very first date ever. How can Michael even stand to look at me?

As tears rapidly escaped my eyes, a voice spoke.

"Luke?" It was Michael. Of course he would have to show up to see me like this. "Luke, babe. What's wrong?" He asked quietly.

"I just f-feel s-so wor-rthless because I-I came out here tonight b-because I realized th-that I don't have any nice clothes and I w-want to be g-good enough for you tomorrow." I hiccuped as I hid my face in my hands, shame and guilt washing over my whole being. I'll never be good enough for anyone.

"Luke." His voice cracked as he spoke my name. "Baby, look at me please." He tried as he set his hands on mine, but I shook my head no, too embarrassed to see his face. "Luke, listen to me, okay? I don't care what clothes you have or don't have because so far, every time that I have seen you, you have been absolutely breathtaking. You don't need to have nice things to be good enough, Luke. I think you're already perfect. I don't care about where you live, or about the clothes you wear, or what you do for money, okay?" He asked in a broken voice, effectively causing me to cry harder. "Baby, look at me." He pleaded.

I slowly removed my hands allowing my eyes to meet Michael's. With the tears still flowing, he set his hands upon my cheeks and leaned down to plant a kiss to my lips. Swiping his thumbs under my eyes, he pulled back keeping our foreheads pressed together. "I'm gonna get to know you and then I'm going to take care of you, but only if you let me. Just say the words, and I swear I'll stay."
