Today was the day, I'd face Jason, Anna, and Michael with open eyes. As I was driving down the winding road that was our driveway I worried what I should do.

There were mythicals and humans at school but I didn't know how I was going to be able to tell them all apart. I wondered if Michael and Anna knew that I knew. I was confusing myself so I decided that I just needed to block everything out and just drive. It was then that I noticed a pair of green eyes poking just outside the tree line at the road-side. I waved, and then they disappeared. Then there's Jason. He in himself is a long story. We grew up together, well sort of. I've known him since the fishing trip to the lake with my dad.

We were instant best friends and I could tell him everything and I thought that he could do the same with me, until now. Maybe he doesn't know, but he has to know. Cara says that my scent is that of a humans. There had never been any secrets between us, except of course the mythical world being completely hidden from me and that he's a soon to be Alpha of a werewolf pack.

One day we were walking in the woods and he kissed me, nothing special or anything just a little peck. It surprised us both and he stayed away from me for almost a week, and then he came back. ever since then though, I'd had a thing for my best friend. I told no one but Alana knew. She said she had been watching over us everytime we were in the forest. She thought Jason was going to be my mate, and I hoped she was right. He is the only person that knew me better than anyone. The only person I knew I could trust with my heart.

He had never dated anyone, and didn't ever seem interested in any of the girls at school. Dad says that if you sleep with anyone that isn't your mate after you turn eighteen it puts your actual mate in physical pain. I took that as why when we kisssed and the meadow incident that he tried to stay away from me. The meadow is complicated. Long story short though, we were goofing off in the forest like normal, and I fell on top of him because you know, im a klutz. When he lifted me up I kissed him, things got heatedand then all of a sudden his eyes flew open and he jumped off of me like I was a burning metal rod. He took off then and left me there, alone and vunerable, to cry, I didn't see him for a month, no calls, and he avoided me in the halls at school and even in class.

Things started getting awkward at school and I could tell neither of us liked his decision to leave me alone. Finally after about a month he apologized and things went back to as normal as possible. I had to hand it to him if what dad said was true, he made an effort, most guys wouldn't around our school.

Thinking about Jason got me to school it seemed like in no time at all. I wanted to see him, no I needed to see him. when I pulled into the parking lot I saw that nothing would be different about today except for the fact that I knew what I was now. Like everyday, everyone was standing out in the parking lot waiting for the first bell to ring. I parked in my space and prepared to face my friends. When I actually looked out the windshield at Michael and Anna I felt my stomach literally drop. Then I noticed that they looked different, but only slightly. It was like they had a orb of color surrounding them that some might call an aura. Blue in color. Cara said that I would be able to tell what everyone was when I got there because their auras would be different colors. Apparently it's only a shifter thing. Merpeople were blue, Vampires are red, Cats are green, dragons purple, wolves orange, shifters yellow, and a chasers is black.

When I stepped out of my car Anna waved me over."Hey Girl" she hugged me tightly," Happy Birthday! Is Jason with you ?"

"No, why would he be?" this puzzled me, but I went along with it. To be honest I was a little dissapointed that he wasn't already here.

"Oh Michael had a bet with him that you would like to know about later that he would like to get settled."

"Woman, I haven't lost yet so don't give it away."

I laughed at their playful banter and just about that time I almost got ran over by a fiery red mitsubishi eclipse going ninety to nothing in the tiny parking lot that hurriedly parked a few rows down from me. Jason's big green dodge came right behind the other car and parked easily by mine. Getting out of the truck Jason seemed highly annoyed by Hunter, the school bully, that owned the red eclipse that nearly ran me over a second ago. Then he looked right at me and his face brightened immediately. He jumped from the truck and ran right over to pick me up and give me a big bear hug. I noticed his aura was different than what I had originally expected a Werewolf's to be. His was a bright orange and yellow. I felt my heart speed up at the sight of him like it does everytime I see him and now I knew that everyone else could hear it too. When his warm skin touched mine, the feeling was like nothing I'd been prepared for. It was warm, tingly, and gave me the happiest of feelings. Looking into his deep green eyes, I knew deep down that he had to be my mate. I could never see him with anyone else, it would crush me.

He didn't look surprised at the feelings that were running through me even though my poor heart was on double time. He just smiled up at me, holding me like that. Thats when like a change of wind we all were on high alert. I didnt know why but I suddenly got this awful migled feeling of anger and fear right about the time Hunter came up to our group, always closely followed by his cronies.

"maybe next time A"

I had always wondered why Hunter called jason A but at first I thought he had a canadian accent, now I was curious again. Hunter kept comung closer and my instincts were screaming for me to take two steps back with every foot he came closer. Jason put his arm out and curled me in close to him. Anna and Michael curiously held the same position; him protectively against his back. when I looked back at Hunter I immediately saw it. His aura. It was black as night. The only reaction I had was surprise and immediate hatred. He was exactly the kind of monster that had killed my real parents. Jasons grip became tighter.

"doubt it C, I got more guts than you'll ever have."

I unthinkingly drew Hunters attention by staring too long. He looked at me, really looked, which wasn't usual for him or his cronies to do. Now I was front and center attention wise.

"you got a problem with me picking on your boyfriend ms. Elizabeth?"

" I wouldnt call it you picking on him really, i'd call it you losing sorely."

"so you are together now?" the way he said it was surprised yet the manaichal laughter I expected never came. Jason stood his ground and said proudly, yes. I wasnt quite sure how I felt about him asumming we were together now but I was glad when his answer annoyed Hunter enough to make him walk away. The rest of the day came and went all of it like any other day.

Jason explained what he could, but a lot of my questions would have to wait until later. I was getting impatient with all this mysteriousness. Anna kept rambling about this whole new world that I was just finding out about and I felt myself get excited about learning more. I couldn't wait to get home. Jason had a lot of explaining to do.
