CHAOS
My name is Elizabeth Duncan, my friends call me liz or lizzy. I'm going to be eighteen in only a few minutes. Of course I'm excited. My parents told me they had a huge surprise for me this year. If only I had known.
I am 5'5 so about average height for a girl with an athletic build and I liked how I was shaped, long and lean. I was a runner by nature, and my legs displayed that fact about me well. I am tan but if I don't go out much in the winter I tend to look like a really white tan person. Maybe that doesn't make any sense, but I'm Hispanic, and also adopted.
My parents died when I was just a baby and their best friends had taken me in, hence my last name being Duncan. I never really knew my real parents and so Stephen and Caroline I considered my actual family. I know I'm a rambler, but this is important.
I have dark brown hair with hints of red in it that you can only see when the sun hits it exactly right. I also have green eyes like my dad had or so Caroline says. Speaking of Caroline, she is my adoptive mother and I love her unconditionally, and wouldn't trade the world for her. I could always tell her anything and their was only one thing she would never tell me. How it had happened. She would only say it was a horrible accident. Yes, I know I had accepted it, but you can't tell me you're not curious especially if you've never heard anything about it, ever.
Eventually we got past it and even though I was still curious, I felt bad for continuing to ask them about it and stopped, figuring if they wanted to tell me, they would. Caroline was more like a best friend than anything, but I still saw her as my mother and gave her the respect she deserved. We had a great relationship. She was a foot taller than me, but had the same athletic build. I loved her light brown curly hair and often braided it for her. She had Hazel eyes that seemed to burn brighter whenever she was cooking.
Stephen, my dad, was everything a dad should be. He took me hunting with him, taught me how to use a bow and shoot a gun. I caught my first fish when I was three ( with his help of course) on a camping trip down by the river. That's where I met Jason, but that is a much longer story for here in a little bit. Dad taught me how to ride a bike and would rescue me from trees when I climbed too high. I would be graduating in a few days and he wasn't ready. I was though, not to get away from them, but to finally go to school for something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. At this point, Senior year was pretty much pointless. The only good thing about school was seeing Annabelle and Michael. Jason was there too, but i usually saw him pretty much everyday now anyway. Back to the point. Stephen. My dad. He was muscular, but not as big or tall as Jason with fine long blond hair that comes to his neckline on his shirts and curls at the ends. He has a square jaw and most of the time light blond stubbley beard. He never has a mustache and that fact amazes me for some reason. I guess he shaves it but it would make more sense to shave the rest of it right? Oh well, he has some brilliant blue eyes though.
I love them both very much, but couldn't wait for my eighteenth birthday, in exactly sixty-seconds.
I rolled over in my bed, deciding not to stare at my alarm clock any longer and to finally get some sleep. It was almost one in the morning on May thirty-first only a few days away from graduation too. Tomorrow was Sunday so I didn't have to worry about waking up late for school. I knew exactly what time it was when my phone vibrated and lit up on the nightstand. What happened next, I never expected.
