Ch.5
Hana
Chocolate.....I really like chocolate, I didn't know how much until this very moment.
The thought ran unbidden through Hana's head, her gaze focused on the beautiful deep brown of Nichkhun's eyes, the exact color of delicious melted chocolate. She watched as they moved from her eyes to her cheeks and fixed on her lips.
Her throat worked, unconsciously swallowing the lump that had formed there against the flurry of her pulse. Hana could feel the heat rise to her cheeks as he inched closer, she felt like a deer caught in glaring headlights, unable to move, to think, to breathe. Should I close my eyes? What if this is all in my head? Am I dreaming...? Her mind was in chaos as she braced herself, not knowing what could possibly happen next. The room grew silent as all thoughts disappeared, an eerie calm settling in as she closed her eyes and felt him move closer, her heart beating faster and faster...
The sound of a door slamming made Hana jump back, startled as the loud noise broke the silence. Looking up, her eyes grew wide as her coworker and best friend, Maya, came to an abrupt halt in the doorway. She saw her friend's eyebrows rise in surprise, a horde of questions lingering behind her stunned expression. Hana knew that a 'Maya Inquisition' would eventually be underway when she managed to get her alone.
Hana had so lovingly given that name to the grueling interrogations that Maya had been prone to conduct over the years of their friendship. Her best friend was an expert at figuring things out and had an uncanny ability to uncover Hana's deepest secrets with little to no effort; this was probably because Hana told her everything anyway.
Maya had been a good friend since middle school; the two girls had bonded over their unique love of languages and Asian culture. Hana had grown up listening to Korean pop and watching Korean dramas and meeting a fellow K Pop lover in Maya at an early age was a blessing that Hana did not let slip through her fingers.
The girls created a bond through eating the Korean food that her mother made, listening to music from artists like Rain and Boa and watching any movies and dramas that they could find. Maya came from a strict background, she was born in Texas but her family moved to Chicago when Maya was still a toddler, her parents were devout Christians and didn't understand how their daughter had become so in love with Asian Culture but never hindered her eagerness to learn. The girl's friendship extended to their parents and it wasn't surprising to find their daughters at each other's houses almost every day. Maya and Hana went through high school and even college together as they pursued their dreams to become professional interpreters.
Hana stood, smoothing out her skirt as she greeted her best friend, "Good morning Maya is there anything you needed?" a plea for help in her eyes.
Maya looked at her best friend closely, she could tell from the panicked look on her face and her fidgety fingers that Hana was flustered and desperate to escape, but escape what?
The professional, composed woman she was used to seeing was gone, in her place was the flushed face of the girl she had known in high school; shy and unsure of herself. Maya shot Hana a confused look and finally took notice of the man that was crouched on the floor, his back to her.
She had seen how close Hana had been to the mystery man with the fine backside, this alone put her on high alert because she knew her friend well enough to know that this was not an everyday occurrence.
Hana took pride in her work and never let her guard down despite the many men that she knew would kill to get her to agree to a date. The way Hana was breathing heavily, her pink stained cheeks and the atmosphere floating around the room peaked Maya's interest.
