Chapter 4

I'm back... !!!!! Sorry I left.... For like 3 years....

*3 months later*

I'd been living in the guest room of Derek's house for the past three months. His family had taken me in as their own and I was grateful. Today Derek and I found out the sex of our baby. The last couple weeks had been tough at school. My bump was barely there but people were starting to notice. They were starting to talk. Cristina has been really been there for me. She keeps reminding me they don't matter.
"Meredith are you ready?" Derek shouted from downstairs.
"Coming!" I yelled back. I slipped on my black converse and hurried down the stairs.
"These are for you" Derek said as he held up light pink roses wrapped in brown paper. He was convinced the baby was a girl, hence the pink.
"You're such a romantic, it's gross" I teased back.

When we arrived at Seattle Grace Hospital I saw Cristina standing at the front entrance waiting for us.
"Is she going to be at every checkup?" Derek asked.
"Derek, she's my person" he didn't argue with that.
"You ready Mer, let's go figure out what kind of little demon your about to have" joked Cristina. Except she wasn't joking. Cristina was not a fan of children. At all. But I knew she would love mine.
"Please can you refrain from insulting my future child" Derek snapped back.
"Hey you two quit it, let's just go find Dr. . . Ooh what was her name, Dr. Forbes Montgomery!" So we did, we followed the signs leading to the maternity wing of the hospital on second floor and then a nurse pointed us to the waiting room. Not long after we got all the paper work filled out a tall red head in sexy red dress with a white lab coat walked into the room and called out "Meredith Grey"
"Oh that's me!" I called
"I'm Dr. Forbes Montgomery I'll be your doctor for the rest of your pregnancy" she said in an slightly cold tone. She reminded me of the perfect women you saw in a magazine. Beautiful, tall, a doctor, probably rich. We walked back to a patient room and she told me lie down in the chair while she got the ultrasound right.
"So you're the mom, you're the dad, who are?" She said pointing to Cristina.
"I'm-
"She's-
"That's
Christina, Derek and I all said at the same time.
"One at time please" she said.
"That's Cristina, she's my per-" I stopped myself and then said "best friend" I didn't want the doctor think we were some weird love triangle.
"Sounds complicated" she said.
"You have no idea" said Derek.
"Okay so can we just do the ultrasound?" I asked.
"Sure, let's get started. I'm going to apply some gel on your abdomen it's a little cold" she said as she picked up the ultrasound machine and began running it against my stomach. I looked up on the monitor and I couldn't tell what anything was. I think the big blob might be a head.
Pointing to the monitor she said, "This is your baby's head, the feet, the arms, and I don't see a- congratulations you're having a baby girl"
"I told you!" said Derek.
"Boom boom boom boom" echoed from the ultrasound machine.
"Is that the heart beat?" I asked. I could feel a slight tear falling on my check and when I looked up at Derek he was crying too, with a giant smile spread a crossed his face. He leaned down and gently pressed his nose to mine and then slowly his lips to mine. Just a soft peck, but it held so much feeling. Right here right now I knew this was my family, my child, and Derek. We were going to spend the rest of our lives together.
