The River

Kendal's POV
My eyes shot open to a white room.
I could sort of remember.......
Oh, great.
The hospital.
But......
The dream.......
It seemed so real......
My thoughts were interrupted when the doctor entered the room.
"Look who's awake."
"What happened?"
"You were attacked by someone, according to this." She pointed her pen to her clipboard. "This here friend of yours called us." Suddenly a girl entered the room. She had long, brownish blonde hair that covered most of her shoulders. She was wearing a pink adidas sweatshirt and jeans with pink converse. I didn't know who she was, but apparently she had saved me from.....who knows what. I ought to be grateful.
"Hey, I'm Sydney." The girl said, bringing me back to reality.
"Oh.....um.....hi. I'm Kendal. Thanks for saving me, but, where's Caleb?" I hadn't seen Caleb since the incident.

"Oh, of course! He's fine. We just told him you're okay and your friends took him home." The doctor said.

"Do you want me to stay? I can drive you home or something, whatever you want." Sydney jumped in.

"Oh, no, I'll be fine. You can go ahead and leave." I quickly responded. I mean, I probably should've kept her with me incase something happened again, but I didn't want her to go through all this trouble just for me.

"Okay, if you're ready now, you're free to go! Just make sure you sign out before you leave," the doctor said.

I signed out and headed towards the door. As I exited, something seemed familiar..... Almost.....
Too familiar.

I heard a voice inside my head speaking.

Drink the water.

Oh no. No way I'm going to drink that water.

If this is anything like my dream it won't end well.

Well..... I guess I could.....

Just a sip. No big deal.

DRINK THE WATER.

And like I had been hypnotized, I went up to the river and I drank the water.
