Doctors are meant to diagnose and treat your condition so you get better quickly. This works with miracle antibiotics for bacterial infection which saves many peoples lives. Doctors have also excelled in physical surgery on the body. Now with keyhole surgery things are looking easier. Even untreatable diseases like cancer are truly becoming treatable it really is amazing. But the problem with depression is it not physical or biological problem. Its mental. Drugs doctors subscribe cannot totally fix depression. There is no miracle drug. Getting out of depression is up to you.

Doctors will probably say to you that your brain is not producing enough seratonin which is making you feel this way. but i need to point out to you the brain is not any ordinary organ. It is amazing. The reason it is so amazing is because it can heal itself. there are many story's of people losing half their brain and learning to cope. there are plenty of studies into the neuroplasticity of the brain--this means grey matter moves where it is needed to improve your brains performance. You can train your brain to do new things. You can also train your brain to get better.

This might sound like a difficult task at first. But its time for you to take control. Who runs your brain?? You do!!! you are a strong amazing person trapped inside your body you need to let that person out relax and let that person be who it wants to be.

This is what I aim to help you with over the next few entries, but now let me warn you.

Doctors can help but ultimately they will try a quick fix. drugs . Antidepressants. drugs like penicillin work well for doctors all the time so when you come to the doctor with your depression he takes the easy route out and prescribes you a drug. I am not saying the drugs don't help you. they do or they will seem to. Biologically they help as explained in the article at the bottom. This article is positive about antidepressants which is good but even after reading it please also consider that they may not be as brilliant as they seem. It is to you to make you own decision that is why I have put this article here but please remember this article may be looking through a rosy tint at antidepressants and most articles will probably be the same.

My best friend is on the antidepressants. They are amazing when you need them but please remember they are not a quick fix. I have watched my friend on antidepressants and I think instead of helping I think they have prolonged her depression.

One good thing about them is they stop your mood swings so you don't have the huge downs you are probably experiencing. But I hate them. do you know what they also stop the huge highs you could be having. My friend has been on them for months and it is not just the depression that is the problem. people isolate themselves when they are depressed but its that's not it either. even when she is truly happy she cannot feel it. which is very sad. Being on them is as much a blessing as a curse.

Also she lost a lot of her imagination and witty conversation this was not from the depression but the drugs actually supress some of your feelings but also your imagination.  This means she acts like a very different person to who she truly is even when she is feeling ok ish.

My friend coming off them had huge ups and downs of emotion and still feels depressed sometimes but she was able to have fun witty conversations and really enjoy her life at times. even though she still felt depressed.

Also the last problem with them is when you come off them you are not used to experiencing or dealing yourself with he huge mood swings you now experience I think this has slowed down her  recovery.

If she had learned in the first place to deal with her emotions, perhaps through a therapist or some other form of depression support she would have had a quicker recovery.

Hopefully this book will be one of the resources you can turn to.

If you are on drugs like this and want to try coming off them or get back to place where you think you can try to come off them you will need the next techniques to help you. if you have not taken the drugs yet but are thinking about them remember they are not a quick fix you will still need to sort out your problems yourself a big task I know but I have been there and hope to help.

this article is very interesting about the biology of depression.
