The floors are creaking
Snapping, groaning
It makes me feel afraid
Irrational
With reason
Burglars and monsters
with long knotted hair and milky white eyes
Wails and sighs (Much alike to the sound I fear)
Or dollar signs on a bag
Carried deftly over a broad shoulder
Striped tee
Stereotype
Irrational, unrelated, a distraction which does not help the matter
But metal expands, under carpets and wood, and supporting structure
Pipes; will you not rest as I do?
