Simon fixed himself up in the mirror before joining Ethan to go meet Rob in the forest. He was praying that everything would go according to plan so he could final marry Lachlan. Simon had noticed the drop in Lachlan's health and spirit. Therefore he tried his best to treat Lachlan with more respect without appearing weak.
Simon adjusted the badges and pins on his suit. He left his room for Ethan's to see if he was ready. Simon got flashbacks of when a young Josh would run down these halls. Now that he looks back on them, Simon realised those were the happy days.
"Ethan? Are you ready?" Simon asked, knocking on the door. A few moments later the door opened.
"Yes I am." Ethan replied confidently. He followed behind Simon to the downstairs. "Are you ready to see, Josh?"
"You bet." Simon assured.
"I mean emotionally." Ethan corrected. Simon thought for a second, then nodded. He wasn't sure how he would react or feel when he sees his son's face. Though he knew it would be strange more than anything. "I still can't believe Harry has been alive all these years." Ethan added astonished.
"Truly incredible." The two exited to the back of the castle to get their horses. They swiftly rode the horses to the river where Rob decided they would meet. The anticipation was incredibly high. Simon and Ethan arrived before Rob did. However it wasn't long before Rob arrived with Jerome. Josh and Harry were not to be though.
"So, where is, Lachlan?" Rob addressed.
"Good afternoon to you too." Simon snorted. "He'll be here shortly. He came on a separate horse with Sir JJ." Simon lied. "Where's, Josh?"
"Just Josh? Are you not concerned about your own brother?" Rob spoke with a condescending tone.
"Where, is Josh?" Simon repeated.
"He is own a separate horse as well." Rob answered. All four sat there waiting, as minutes ticked by. They grew suspicious of each other with no sign of either's son. "You don't have Lachlan do you?" Rob broke the silence.
"And you don't have Josh either do you?" Simon proclaimed back. Neither of them said anything as they both knew they had lied. "I held off the wedding for your pathetic lies?!" Simon shouted as he slid off of his horse.
"You're just as pathetic because you had the same plan." Rob joined him on the ground. They confronted each other with very little space in between them. "I can't believe I trusted that you wouldn't try to pull something sneaky like this. Don't think this will be forgotten because I've tried to be nice and obviously you don't want to play that game. I will take Lachlan back by force if I have to!" Rob stormed.
"I don't know what you have left to fight for anyways because your son will be married to me." Simon stressed.
"And I don't know what you'll be fighting for either because your son and brother will be dead." Rob stared down Simon. Both stomped away in defeat. They each lost because of their own stubbornness. One was no better than the other.
Directly after the confrontation, Rob and Jerome returned home to deliver the news. Of course Vik became furious when he heard this. Therefore he ordered to have Josh and Harry executed immediately. Preston watched, hiding behind a corner, as Vik learned that no one would die today.
Preston peaked around the corner, as he saw Jerome walking down the hall. Preston had planned with Josh and Harry that he would break the guillotine but since Preston hasn't had contact with them, they had no idea if he had done so.
"Vik is the guillotine ready?" Jerome asked. Preston couldn't see Vik, only his shadow.
"No! It's broken!" Vik panicked.
"Broken? What do you mean?"
"I mean it doesn't work!" Vik wailed. Preston was about to leave when Vik said something else that caught his ear. "I told Rob and he said we could hang them another day in public but he wants to surprise attack the East Kingdom first as one last attempt to get Lachlan back."
