Helium is an interesting element. The inhalation of helium causes one's voice to come out in a higher pitch. This is because helium is much less dense than the normal air we breathe, so when we release it with vibration from our vocal chords, our voice comes out in a higher pitch than it normally would. I've never actually experimented with helium, but I can say that something else associated with higher pitched voices is nervousness and lying. Most people don't notice small changes in things like voices, but I have become quite an expert on detecting lies in such a way.
"You're looking much better than you were at the start of the year, that's for sure." The doctor in front of me, he isn't lying. "I'd say you gained back a little weight, so you seem to be at a healthier one now. Have you been eating better since you left the Ootori Facility?" I divert my eyes to the cloth separating me from the rest of the students getting their physical examinations. I've never liked doctors.
"Yes." The pitch of my voice doesn't change, but I am lying. In secrecy, I'm a bit of a junk food addict.
"That's excellent to hear!" He writes something down on his notebook. "You're free to put your uniform back on,, Miss Seikan. Everything seems normal, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't still go in twice a month for scans and check-ups."
"Of course." I slip my dress over my head.
"Rin? Can I speak with you for a moment?" Kyoya's voice comes from the other side of the sheet. I put my ribbon in my mouth as I attempt to button up my collar. I step out from behind the sheet and he looks surprised to see me in such disarray. "I could've waited." I shrug and my fingers fumble with the buttons. I pull the ribbon out of my mouth and attempt to tie a bow around my neck, more or less creating a loose knot. I let out a nervous giggle as I feel Kyoya's judgment. He raises his hands up and unties the knot, giving me a proper bow. I look up at him as he keeps his eyes fixed on my ribbon.
"Kyoya?" He draws his eyes back up to mine. I smile "What did you need to talk about?" He blinks twice before adjusting his glasses and closing his eyes.
"I just thought... I'd let you know that I handled things with Haruhi. I set her up a special appointment with a doctor sworn to secrecy." I tilt my head.
"I thought the twins and Tamaki had a plan?" Kyoya opens one eye and smirks at me.
"Did you really think that would work?" My mouth twitches and I let out a small laugh.
"I suppose not. You still let them follow through with it though, didn't you?"
"I just don't see how I'm supporting cast." He looks to the doorway, the rest of the host club enters the room. "Are you ready for host club activities? We actually don't have any other guests booked today, you're a special case." I blink and hold up my hands.
"You guys don't have to work just for me! Take a day off!"
"It is a day off when we're just with friends!" Hunny pounces onto me, hugging my shoulders tight.
"Besides.." Hikaru starts.
"We've been looking for a good reason to have some people over." The twins finish the sentence in unison. After the whole ordeal with Haruhi last week, and the extra planning yesterday evening when the host club activities ended, I have felt a bit closer to all the members of the club.
"Let's celebrate our continued good health and beauty!" Tamaki throws out a dramatic pose and Hunny nods eagerly before hopping off me and running to Mori.
"And celebrate that Haru-chan's secret wasn't revealed to anyone today!" Hunny giggles, Mori nods and the hosts all look to me. I smile.
"Okay!" I laugh "But I get to pick the party games~."
