Ashlee got accepted in all three universities that she has applied in but due to the insistence of her father, she ended up choosing UST. Gerald completed his pre-med and med proper in the same school. Chris offered to accompany her for enrollment... said he can help her through the entire process and be her bodyguard at the same time. Ashlee said that she has to ask permission from their parents first.

"Mom, Dad enrollment will be on Tuesday. Chris offered to come with me. Is it okay? He knows the whole process and where to go," she said.

Her parents looked at each other as if egging each other to answer the question. Gerald gave in. "Can't your mom go with you instead?"

"But Dad, nakakahiya naman. College na 'yun. Parents don't enroll for their kids anymore," Ashlee whined.

"Of course they do. Incoming first year ka pa lang so your parents should help you in enrolling," her dad argued.

"Mom?"

"I'm sorry baby but the decision is up to your dad."

"Fine," Ashlee said then left her parents' bedroom.

Sarah looked at Gerald but didn't say anything.

"What?" he asked.

"Nothing."

"Do you really want Chris to go with her?"

"I really don't have a problem with that but as I've said the decision is up to you," she answered.

"Why do I get the feeling na okay lang sa 'yo na sagutin na ni Ash si Chris?"

"I don't have a problem with that either. I like Chris for her. He's a responsible boy. It wouldn't hurt if he rubs some of it on our baby. She needs to mature a little and I think Chris will be a good influence on her. Besides, when she starts with college she will meet other boys as well. Sa palagay mo ba walang magkakagusto sa kanya doon? May manliligaw sa kanya doon and for sure mas magiging worried ka kasi you don't know the background of these boys. At least si Chris kapitabahay lang natin."

"Now you're getting me all worked up."

"O sige ganito na lang. When the other guys see Ash with Chris, they would most likely think that they are together so hindi na sila lalapit. Isipin mo na lang that he is being a bodyguard to her."

"I'll think about it but I'll feel more secured if you went with her."

"I have an idea," Sarah excitedly said. "Why don't you go with her? That way you can scout out the boys and give her tips on who to stay away from."

"Mommy, it's not funny."

Sarah hugged him and said, "Ikaw naman kasi Babe. Parang sasamahan lang sa enrollment akala mo eh papayagan mo na silang magpakasal. Loosen up. Akala ko ba you're gonna slowly let her go? At isa pa you should start trusting your daughter."

"Haaay. Sige Mommy, I'll talk to Ashlee."

"That's my babe."

Gerald went downstairs, after his short talk with Sarah, to look for and talk to Ashlee. He found him shooting hoops at the half court in their backyard. Only people they grew up with and who are really close to them know that she is a good basketball player like her brother and dad. She was even part of the girls' varsity team of their school when they were still graders. When she entered high school, she decided to stop playing and be the typical teenaged-girl. But once in a while she would still play with her brother or dad.

"Can I join you?" Gerald asked.

"Sure," she said without looking at her dad. She passed the ball to him and took her place under the goal to wait for the ball.
