I walked into the kitchen to see Abby in the kitchen with my mom. She had a fake smile and I could tell because it didn’t reach her eye. They were so sad.
“Hey mom need any help?” I leaned against there island.
“You can set up the table.”
“Okay.”
“Remember to set one for your father.” I gave her a quick nod. After the table was set I
poured everyone a glass of water.
“Dear god is that you.” I turned to see my father give Chance a hug.
“It’s nice to have you back son.”
“It’s good to be back.” It made me mad to see my dad be so fatherly. Ever since he found out I was Bi he slowly pulled away. We hardly do eye contact. He only talks to me is when mom makes him.
“It smells good in here.”
“It’s chicken alfredo and Abby is making a salad.”
“Hello Abby.”
“Hi Mr. Harris. How was your day?”
“Good.” He looked over at me and gave me a quick nod.
“Hello to you too dad.” I mumbled.
“Well go wash up dinner in ready.”
Dinner went well. Dad left me alone and talked to Chance and Abby. Dinner was boring because Chance didn’t want to talk about the military and Abby was really quiet. When dinner was over. Chance and Abby took the dishes to the sink.

After dinner was done Chance and I brought the dishes to the sink.
“How about you wash and I dry?” Chance said.
“So your saying I get the wrinkly hands?” I laughed.
“Ya.”
“Fine with me.” As I was getting the sink full of hot bubble water Chance spoke.
“Umm where’s the towels?”
“To the right of me.” He came up behind me and open the drawer next to me.
“Thanks.”
“Can I be Frank with you?”
