Chance High School

"Hey, Mia Clarkson! Wait up!" Mia groaned as she slowed down her walks and pouted slightly at the sweating guy behind her. She looked at him with judging eyes before she sighed and walked towards the latter.

"Can you be any slower? And the guy is supposed to be the strong one." She paused before kicking the guy in the shin. "And call me Mia! I told you i'm not going to keep his filthy name together with the name Angel gave me."

The guy raised one of his eyebrow before shrugging. "I'm going to call you whatever i want" The guy stopped, watching Mia's reaction turned into a frown. "Why are you hurrying up to change your name anyway? I thought you forgive him already."

Mia rolled her eyes before staring at the guy mockingly. "Come on, Evan Wood. The earlier the better! Besides, forgiving doesn't mean i still want to keep his name." Mia shrugged nonchalantly. Evan scoffed before he pushed a finger to the girl's forehead. "Whatever he did, he is still your father you know. Come on, we're going to be late." He grabbed Mia's wrist and dragged her.

The students poured into the school hall. New students with nervous face stood on the right side while the juniors and seniors stared boringly at them on the left side. The once crowded and noisy hall turned silence at once when the school headmaster walked into the hall towards the podium. He cleared his throat before scanning the students with his sharp eyes. All the sophomores held their breath as they watched the headmaster shook his head before beginning his speech.

"Good Morning, everyone. I say hello to the new students and the old students, welcome back." He said as he gave the juniors and seniors a little smile. Mia rolled her eyes as she watched the familiar figure at the podium gave the new students a glare that could kill. Mia glanced towards her left to see Evan in ease. Oh right, he knows. She glanced to her right to see the other students's bodies tensed up, as if the headmaster could kill them anytime. Please, he can't even hurt a fly. Mia leaned on the chair as she boringly watched to the man in the podium.

The old man blabbered something about the school's dignity and how they could be one of the most wanted prestigious high school ever and bla bla bla. Mia hold the urge to puke as the headmaster praise that guy in basketball team again, a little bit exaggerating if she may add.

Just suddenly, the hairs on her neck stand as a hot breath grazed over her shoulder and whispered to her.

"You should at least pay attention to what your grandfather say, Mia. Where's your manner?" said the deep voice which made her shivered all over her body. Mia shoved Evan away as she hissed back.

"Shut up! What if anyone hear?" She cautiously looked around in case someone was hearing what they were saying. "And i'm not going to listen to that crap he's saying" She added.

Evan chuckled and ruffled her hair. This action made Mia pouted and fixed her hair immediately. Evan decided to be a jerk and messed with her hair again though this time, a sting of pain could be felt as Mia bit the latter hand.

"Hey, don't you know i spent hours in front of the mirror just to do my hair?" She glared at the guy who was holding his laughter as he rubbed his hand, trying to cease the pain.

"Oh come on, Mia. You know i love you just the way you are!" Evan chuckled and pinched her cheeks. Mia tried to hide her blush and slapped the hand away. "Shut up" She said as she turned her face to the other side, hoping the guy wouldn't notice her red face.

Okay, she admitted she lik-no, loved her best friend. She would feel all those heart beating the stupid dramas she watched said, or butterflies in stomach and those craps. But for Mia, these things were not crap when it came to Evan. She had loved him for a while now and she might be loving him forever. She never had any other boy friends anyway, and she didn't fall in love easily. It took her 10 years to fall in love with Evan. 10 freaking years. Which means now it has been 3 years since she first realized her feelings. And yes, they met when they're 4. When they still had mud all over their face. Let's save the story for later.

Mia didn't realized she had dozed of when someone nudged her shoulder slightly.

"Wake up sleepyhead, class is starting in 5 minutes, everyone left the hall already" Evan took her hand and made her stood. She pouted and stood up reluctantly.

"Remind me why are we not in the same classroom again?" She grunted and slung her backpack over her shoulder. Evan smiled softly and walked ahead her.

"Because obviously, i'm smarter than you!" Mia scoffed at the answer and kicked the guy. The guy stopped walking and turned around. He gave her that famous charming smile before he lowered his face to her and whispered.

"You should probably get going now if you don't want to get a detention first thing in the morning."

"Shit" Mia glanced at hew watch before sprinting off to her class. She stopped middle way and yelled "Wait for me at lunch! Rooftop!" She said and waved to the guy. Evan chuckled but nodded anyways. He waved back and watched the figure running in front of him until she disappeared from his sight. He walked in to his class.

Mia huffed as she arrived in front of her class. She wiped her sweat off as she tried to make herself look presentable. Who knows if there are some handsome guy inside my class? After checking herself once again in the mirror she walked inside the room.

The room was not that big, could be considered small to have 30 students in it. It had some paintings here and there on the wall and 2 whiteboards. Hmm not bad. She scanned the room a little before choosing a seat right in the middle. She put her bag under her seat and took out her phone immediately.

To : Evan

Hey, you said class started in 5 minutes! The bell rang already but when is the teacher coming? I'm bored to death without you here.

She waited for awhile but Evan seemed like he won't be answering her text message. Mia pouted and slumped down on her table. Backstabber. Feeling bored, Mia observed the people around her. A girl two seats away from her seemingly had a bad hair day and probably got kicked out by her parents because she looked like she had no reason to live. Tch, try to be in my position bitch. Nothing's worse than this. She diverted her eyes to the front. A boy with a nerdy glasses, The bullies were bullying a guy, this is seriously high school. She sighed and slumped down on the table, hiding her face with a book and sleeps.
