They are my honest to God favourite band and I'd been looking forward to this concert for-fucking-ever.
Their first album was pretty good, but their second album - Sounds Good, Feels Good, was other worldly.
This tour was for Sounds Good, Feels Good and I knew tonight was gonna be a good time.
Hell, a great time.
The way their music makes me feel is indescribable and I couldn't wait until I got to experience it in person.
Right in frount of my face; Frount row, baby.
My best friend went with me, she was a fan too, so we were both hyped.
We got ready together, listening to their music meanwhile. We did the same while driving to the venue.
I had my hands on the wheel, bouncing to 'Money' when Rowan said something other than the lyrics.
"Can you believe we're gonna hear and see 5 Seconds of Summer live?"
I looked over my shoulder to my right and see her beaming at me.
"Honestly, no," I said through my own smile. "But I'm glad we are. It's gonna be rockin'."
"Best 19th birthday ever."
"Old woman."
"Shut up!" she said, hitting my shoulder and laughing. "I'm only a few months older than you."
I stuck my tongue out at her. I love Rowan a lot. We've been best friends since the beginning of high school. She's always there for me, and I'm always there for her.
We pulled into the venue parking lot. We were two hours early for the show, so not many cars were there.
As we got out of the car, the wind hit our faces.
It was the perfect day for an outdoor concert, though the one we were at was indoors. I love living in Maryland, the fall seasons here are perfect. It was mid-September, so it was still warm during the day, but the evenings got chilly.
We walked to the entrance of the venue, got our wristbands, and waited until the gates opened. We didn't have to wait very long and everyone piled into the building.
Rowan and I found our way to our seats easily.
We were in the frount row, right on the barricade, on Calum's side of the stage (I was personally extra excited about that.)
Calum's my "favourite" in the band and he always has been. The way he carries himself is a blessing.
I feel bad for favouring normal people sometimes. But only sometimes.
Calum was just a magnetic person. I was just naturally drawn to him.
Rowan's favourite always switches between Luke and Ashton. Right now she's digging Ashton; I can tell as she gawks over his drumset.
Time went by and the opening act performed.
They were good, quality music. Most of the crowd jammed including me.
After they bowed and exited, the lights went down and the room went nuts.
Thousands of screaming voices rang in my ears.
The sound of the speakers off-pitching mixed with the screams.
I always thought of 5 Seconds of Summer as normal people I knew and was aquatinted with.
I never idolized them. They're just producers of music I love to death, and I guess that made me love them to death in a way.
Rowan and I watched as Ashton came out and sat at his drumkit and began drumming. She was grinning ear to ear and so was I.
This night was going to be magical.
