Chapter 5

“So when two atoms combine” I said.

“MOLECULES ARE FORMED!” Micah screamed, earning us a disapproving glance from Ms. Birdy, our schools librarian.

“SHH Micah, your going to get us kicked out on our arses!” I said, giggling and punching him lightly on the arm.

“Ow Lara! That really hurt!” he said, making a pouting face and rubbing his now bruising arm.

I punch like a grown man. It’s a girt, and a blessing. A light punch from me causes bruising. A regular punch from me, and break bones. Its good for fieldwork, not for flirting.

“Sorry, what can I do to make it up?” I said, smiling at him.

He smiled mischievously, and leaned in closer to me. Our noses were practically touching! Oh my goodness!

"Close your eyes” he said.

I closed my eyes. I felt his breath on my face. I leaned in a little more.

Then I felt something go up my nose!

I opened my eyes and saw him laughing, practically on the floor. I pulled the pencil out of my nose. My face was turning red.

“ Micah! That’s not funny! You can’t stick things up other peoples noses!” I screamed at him.

He composed himself and said, “You’re forgiven for punching me”

I just looked at him, stuck my tongue out and started packing up my stuff. It was already 10 o’clock, and I needed my beauty sleep. Frankie is going to have a tough time waking me up tomorrow. Oops. Oh well!

“ Wait where are you going?” Micah asked. I think I saw a flash or disappointment in his eyes.

 I’m probably just seeing things.

“I have to go back to my room, its already late and I have practice early tomorrow morning.” I answered him.

“Okay well let me walk you back to your room then” he said

He started packing up his stuff. Gosh he looked so cute! And he’s so sweet! Wanting to walk me back. Aw shucks! This is why I love this kid. He’s the kindest boy I know. Other guys I have liked in the past were nothing like him. They were all nice and cute when it was them and i together, but then their friends would be around, and they would turn into Micah wasn’t like that at all. He is always the same generous, kind, sweet, caring boy. I wonder e=what he thinks about me. They should make a spy device to let us read other peoples minds. I should tell Frankie about that. Maybe she could do it. She’s very good at creating spy devices.

We left the library, and walked back side by side, in a comfortable silence. Half way there Micah grabbed my hand. I was in heaven! HE WAS HOLDING MY HAND! And he made the first move! We unfortunately arrived at my door, way too quick for my liking.

“ I had a lot of fun tonight Lara.” He said.

“Me to” I answered.

“ Lara, I want to tell you something. It might shock you, or even scare you off. But I can’t keep it in any more!”

“Well go on then,” I said

“ I… uh… I… like….” He stammered.

“Well, spit it out already” I said, wanting to know what he was about to say. Oh gosh was he about to say he liked me? That would be so amazing! But what about Carson. I had a date with him on Friday. Ugh i'm so confused!

My thoughts were interrupted by something crashing into my lips.

I opened my eyes to see Micah’s closed ones. OMG HES KISSING ME! AND IM KISSING HIM BACK! I closed my eyes, enjoying the kiss. I don’t want to sound cliché, but it was amazing. There was so much pent up feelings in the kiss getting let out, like a flood of emotions. It was the best kiss ever. I wonder if all kissed were like this.

We broke apart, and Micah was grinning from ear to ear.

“I like you a lot Lara, and I have for a while now” Micah said to me.

I smiled at him, and gave him a peck. “I like you to Micah”

“Would you like to go out with me on Friday, like a real date?” He asked

Crap. My date with Carson.

“ Um how about Saturday, I have plans on Friday to go hang out with the new kid Carson. He doesn’t have many friends, so I’m going to show him around, and show him what there is to do for fun around this place” I said.

“ Saturday it is then, ill come by around 7:30 okay?”

“Sure! Have a good night,” I said.

He pulled me into one last hug. “Night” he said.

I turned to go inside. As soon as I shut the door to the main hall, I started jumping around, doing a victory dance. I ran up to my room, and tackled Frankie onto her bed.

“What happened? Is someone chasing you?” She screamed.

“MICAH KISSED ME! HE SAID HE LIKES ME A LOT!!!” I screamed in her ear.

She pulled me into a bear hug, and we started rolling around on the bed. We were both laughing and she was singing.

“Lara and Micah sittin’ in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” she sang off key.

“ Frankie don’t make me get my video camera out!” I yelled.

BANG BANG BANG we heard on our door. I ran over and opened the door. Standing in front of me was none other than the evil Sandra DelFinco. Gosh why does she have to show up and ruin the good moments of my life?

“Can you LOSERS keep it down, I’m trying to listen to my music, and I cant hear it because of you annoying laughter.” She sneered at me.

“ Sorry Sandra, can you keep it down when your screwing guys that aren’t your boyfriend?” I snapped back.

A look of pure anger came across her face. She looked like she had steam coming out of her ears. I swear if she swings at me, she will be sorry. I’ll give her one of those bone-breaking punches I mentioned earlier.

“YOU BIOOTCH! I have no idea what you’re talking about. I would never treat on my cammy!” she yelled in my face.

“Keep telling your self that Sandra. You should go listen to your music. Bye” I said with a fake smile and slammed the door in her face. As soon as the door shut Frankie erupted in laughter, and fell off her bed onto the floor.

“HAHA did you see her face… ohmygosh I think I’m going to die of laughter! When did you grow these balls Lara!”?

“Anyways, I’m going to sleep. Don’t forget to wake me early, we have football practice in the morning!”

“Ugh don’t remind me,” she said climbing under the covers of her own bed.

“Night girl, love you: I said.

“Love ya to” she answered, flicking off the lamp in between our beds.

As soon as I shut my eyes, I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
