(A/N- I changed the red heads name to Deanna cause I thought it suited her better)

BRRRING. I jumped about a foot. I looked up at the old fashioned bells and almost groaned out loud. God those bells are going to take some getting used to. I scrambled out of my seat to grab my stuff that was scattered on the desk. Yeah it's official. I hate math. Although the teacher, Miss Burns, was abnormally nice everything she taught went right over my head. I even tried to pay attention in that class. At the moment I see a future of terrible marks, unless I just magically become a genius.

I dashed out of the room before anyone could stop me and started walking in a random direction with my eyes glued to the floor. I wasn't oblivious to the whispering going on around me but chose to ignore it. I really don't want trouble on the first day so I suppose it's better if they think I don't hear them. I just kept following the swarm of people until I realized where we were going. The cafeteria was packed. Huh, I guess it's lunch. I had just stepped through the double doors when an energetic red head bounced toward me at an alarming speed. She screeched to a stop right in front of me. I swear to God she actually screeched. I looked down subtly trying to look at her shoes. How the hell did they do that? Her glittery flats sparkled at me when I looked down.

"Cute right?! Totally on sale and everything!!!" It took me a second to realize she was talking about the shoes. I guess I should work on being subtle.

"Yeah, adorable." I smiled half heatedly at her. To which she beamed back at me.

"So you're still going to sit with me right?!" Oh yeah, I figured she had forgotten about that. It seemed like ages ago when she asked.

"Yeah sure." I smiled back at her. Honestly, I didn't have the heart to say no to this girl. She just looked so damn happy. Deep down I was a little jealous not even going to lie. I haven't really been happy since the day I woke up in the hospital looking like a used punching bag.

"Yay!" She jumped up and down. Yes. She actually physically jumped up and down. "Everyone is going to love you! Just you wait." She grabbed my hand and started dragging me between tables and manoeuvring her way through the crowds. My arm almost came out of the socket once or twice. Jesus, she's strong for her size. Finally we made it to a table with 6 or 7 people sitting around it.

I kind of zoned out when she introduced me to everyone, so I have no idea what their names are. Three girls and four guys including myself. They all look like fairly decent people though, maybe this lunch hour won't be that bad.

Deanna was in the middle of an argument with some guy that looked like he could've been on a water bottle commercial. You know, when it's all sunny out so the guy takes off his shirt and starts drinking the water with sweat glistening on his six pack and chest and then some of the water falls from his mouth onto his... Okay so maybe I've watched quite a bit of TV since I've been here. Sue me.

"We've been over this!! If a point guard drives to the net with only a few seconds left in a tied game, but there is a defender in the way, he or she should pass to the wide open man! That way she doesn't have to hope the defender fouled her if she misses. Chances of getting the basket are so much higher."

"Nope. It's so much easier to make a lay-up than to drain an outside shot. He or she should just take the damned lay-up." They must be into some type of sport. I had no input so I zoned out again. I dragged my eyes across the cafeteria and almost immediately mine were met with another pair. Dylan was looking right at me for a solid 3 seconds before averting his gaze back to the table of people he was with. I don't know why but I felt flustered for a moment. I noticed that he was with what looked to be the 'popular' crowd. I looked back at the group of people I was with and was surprised to find them already staring back expectantly.
