i peeked around the corner before slowly and carefully stepping out of the bathroom. I tip toed to the top of the stairs and looked down at myself. I was wearing black leggings paired with a snug white tank top and a jean jacket. I've been at this house for a week now and Cindy had insisted on taking me shopping for clothes since she didn't have any that would fit me. Now that shopping trip was difficult considering i had no idea what kind of clothes I liked. We decided on keeping the clothes simple. I wasn't comfortable with letting Cindy buy me this stuff, but she practically dragged me out of the house. Today is my first day of high school and I don't know whether to be nervous or just downright scared sh*tless. Do people know what happened to me? My God of course they do. What am I thinking. In this town my story probably spread like wildfire. I looked down and my hand was shaking. I can do this. I started walking down the stairs with determination but almost tripped over the last stair when I saw who was standing by the door. Dylan looked up at me and I looked away, and shut my eyes for a moment. I can't even make eye contact with him. We haven't really seen each other much in the last week. Mostly just in the morning and then he leaves and comes back again at night before going straight to his room. And me? I've been tip toeing around trying not to get in anyone's way.

"Umm.. we should probably go." Dylan cleared his throat awkwardly. I nodded and grabbed an apple from the kitchen along with the bag Cindy insisted on me having for my books. She seemed really excited about having a girl in the house. I walked through the door that he left open and got into his car. We drove for a while in silence before he glanced over at me.

"So... You nervous?" He started. I looked at him briefly before returning my gaze to the window.

"You could say that." I stated still keeping my stare trained on the fields surrounding my window. Apparently you had to go semi far away from their house for school. He waited a while before speaking up again

"So I have practice after school so my mom is coming to pick you up unless you want to wait for me."

"I'll wait."

"What?"

"I'll wait." I repeated.

"Are you sur-"

"Yeah it's fine." I cut him off. I really didn't want to inconvenience Cindy after all she has done for me. He seemed to note my lack of indecision before nodding and pulled into the school's parking lot. I hadn't even noticed that we were already here, and quickly stepped outside into the frigid air. I turned to mutter a quick thanks only to notice that he was already halfway to the school. I got out and looked around. Half of the people were either looking at Dylan longingly or staring at me. I quickly averted my eyes to the ground and made my way to the school while ignoring the obvious whispers. I stepped in and walked into the office.

"Um hi. I'm new, uh my name is Samantha...." I paused remembering that I currently don't have a last name. The secretary paused her furious typing and looked up from the screen. Her previously bored looking eyes immediately widened.

"Oh, I h-have your schedule right here." She stuttered out while picking up and thrusting a piece of paper at me. I took it from her hands and she kept looking at me weirdly. I turned around and studied the paper in my hands. First block was.. English room 148 with Mr. Morrison. I obviously didn't have time to go to my locker so I walked down a random hallway.

I walked around the school for 15 minutes with no such luck. Seriously how big is this school?

"Damn it!" I muttered when i came to another dead end. I ran my hand through my hair angrily. I was starting to get frustrated.

"Okay, okay if i was room 148 where would i be...." Said to myself while closing my eyes trying to come up with an idea. I heard a chuckle and snapped my head toward the voice.

"You are in the complete opposite side of the school." I looked over and saw an extremely attractive blond boy leaning up against the lockers with an amused smile on his face. He straightened and walked towards me. My god that boy had the bluest eyes. I stood there clearly checking him out for a moment before i blushed realizing i had yet to answer. He smirked at my lack of subtlety.

"In my defence this school is massive." I stated.

"It's used as the high school for the three towns in its radius, which is also why it's in the middle of nowhere." He explained after he finished laughing at my expression. I looked up at the clock and groaned.

"As much as I'd love to stay and chat, I'm already 20 minutes late on my first day so if you'd be a doll and give me directions that would be great."

"Well then I'd love to be a doll." He was clearly amused. He then gave me the directions to my room in this maze they call a school. I turned and started walking, throwing a thank you over my shoulder as i started toward English.

"Hey!" He called before i got too far. I sighed and turned around.

"What do you want?"

"I'm Nathan. You are?" I paused.

"Sam."

"Well it's nice to meet you Sam. Maybe we'll see each other again sometime soon." He winked. I smiled.

"We'll see." I heard him chuckle again as i walked away.

I stood at the door to classroom 148 with my hand poised in a fist ready to knock. Damn it Sam just do it. With my spurt of confidence i knocked three times and waited. A fairly good looking man with think hipster like glasses answered the door and looked at me expectantly. Probably about his early/ mid twenties. Seriously. Is anyone here unattractive?

"Uh.. I'm a new student today, is this English with Mr. Morrison?"

"Yes it is, and that would be me." He smiled warmly. "Although, you do realize that you are half an hour late for my class? What's your name miss?"

"Sam. And I know, I'm sorry I got really lost." A sense of understanding seemed to wash over him at the mention of my name and he opened the door wider for me to come in.

"That's alright, you can take a seat wherever there is one available Sam." I nodded and walked past him while looking around for an empty spot. The only one available was beside a girl with round green eyes and fiery perfect curls. I sat down and she looked at me.

"God, you're gorgeous." She said. I gave her a funny look. "I'm straight! Don't worry." She laughed, so I smiled back.

"Well then thanks." We both looked toward the front when Mr. Morrison called for everyone to quiet down.

"Okay class we have a new student today. Her name is Sam and I expect each and everyone of you to make her feel welcome!" I felt the hard gazes of everyone in the room as i stared at the desk.

"Alright so today we will be studying-" And that's when I zoned out.

I was drowning in my thoughts as the bell rang snaping me out of my dazed look. Class was already over?

"No homework tonight from me but come prepared to work hard in class tomorrow! See you later." Mr. Morrison said as everyone started putting their things away.

"My name's Deanna, you should come hang out with me at lunch! I have no idea why but I feeling we're going to be friends." The red head smiled showing her straight teeth.

"Yeah maybe." I smiled back before grabbing my bag and heading out of the class. At least I might already have a friend. An odd one but still a friend. Okay one block down four more to go, I sighed while looking at my schedule. I had a sudden feeling that today was going to be a really long day.
