After a 8 hour flight and a gruesome
dinner with lots of fighting off sleep, all I wanted was a cup of tea and a warm bed.
Apparently, Harry had other plans though, dragging me thru street after street.
"Couldn't we at least have taken a car?!" I asked, grumpy.
"Yes, but that would defeat the purpose of all this! We're almost there anyways."' Harry says happily.
We stopped abruptly at a tall apartment building. It looked old but I could see people in their houses, milling around.
Harry let go of my hand and started punching in a code to the door.
"Do you live here too?" I asked
He grinned. "Not exactly."
He takes me hand again, leading us up the stairs as the door opens then unlocks behind us.
Instead of taking the elevator, like normal people, we ran up 10 flights of stairs to the roof of the building. It over looks the whole city of London. By now, I am fully aware we are breaking and entering.
"Why.......?" I made out barely, gasping for breath. Harry was barely panting. Screw him for going to the gym.
Not answering me, he takes me to the edge of the roof, not saying a word. I gathered my breath.
"This is the surprise?!"
Harry grins. "Me and my best friends use to come up here all the time. You know, before all the famous stuff. We would talk about all the great things we wanted to do someday. Then I got famous and we all just stopped talking. I went my way and they went to school, found girlfriends, made a life for themselves. I haven't shown this to anyone for 3 years."
I didn't know what to say so I didn't say anything. I've never been the kind to get emotional or anything.
"Look, just beyond that tower is where my grandma use to take me for candy. Mum would get mad every time I came home with a Mars Bar." Harry starts pointing out other things and I would smile, listening to him talk was enough. He sounded more alive than I've ever heard him.
"So you're just not gonna say anything?" Harry adds quietly
I turn to him. "It's beautiful out here." I said finally. I lean over to kiss him, hoping that it would transfer the things I felt that I didn't have words for.
However, he pulled away.
"That's it? That's all you have to say? I just poured my heart out for God's sake!" He says suddenly.
I was taken aback. "What the hell do you want me to say?! I love you? Thanks for the show?" I was angry that he was angry but right as I said those things I knew I was being a bitch.
"You know what? That's your problem, Lily. That's why we're never going to get anywhere. You never talk about you or your feelings or anything." Harry spats.
"Are we really doing this again? We fought like two days ago!" I said incredulously
"We fought because you wouldn't talk about a relationship and now we're fighting again because you're not letting me in!"
I threw my hands up. "THIS IS ALL MY FAULT?! That's funny, Harry. Last time I checked, relationships involved TWO PEOPLE, it's also your fault that we're fighting. But since you seem to think this is all on me, maybe I should get a hotel room instead." I said, walking towards the door.
"Fine!" Harry yells behind me.
"Fine!" I yell back before slamming the door right in his face.
