Later during workout

(Joe) *doing pull-ups on the bars* so... Nick said you live with your coach...

(Taylor) *looks at Joe surprised* yea...I do

(Joe) *waiting for elaboration that doesnt come* o...k...why do you live with your coach and not at that ranch like Izzy?

(Taylor) *sigh* its sort of a long story

(Joe) well, I figure you plan to torture me all morning so I have time *smirks*

(Taylor) in a nutshell?

(Joe) nutshell version works

(Taylor) ok...I'm originally from NY, my Dad was this wealthy business man ,my mom was a model ...when I was 2 she died, Dad remarried his trophy wife when I was 4, she was in it for the money and wasn't too keen on having me as extra baggage...so she would drop me at the local gymnastics academy every day like daycare and leave me there til closing...when I was 6, C came to NY recruiting and found me practically living at the gym and thought I had real promise...the step bitch was more than willing to send me packing so she didn't have to deal with me anymore...so I moved here.

(Joe) *stopping his attempts at pull-ups * you moved here when you were 6? Away from your dad?

(Taylor) yup *popping her P* I never saw him much anyway...he was always working...so he thought it would be better for me. Anyway I lived with different sponsor families till I was 10...then started on the elite track and moved into the ranch. Two years ago my dad passed away from cancer...and seeing as how C had been the main authority figure in my life since I was 6 my dad left him sole custody of yours truly....so...there it is...me in my messed up little nutshell.

(Joe) wow...that's crazy....why do you call him C?

(Taylor) *shrug* most kids aren't recruited out of state so young, they are usually at a home gym and are recruited later, so for all intensive purposes he played the dad role for me, the girls call him Chris, or Coach....Chris feels too weird...like calling your dad by his first name...Coach feels too impersonal...So I call him C

(Joe) makes sense

(Taylor) why so interested in my personal life?

(Joe) *shrug* I dunno...I figure we are spending all this time together, might as well get to know each other...plus when I distract you with questions like this, you don't realize I'm not doing pull-ups *smiles*

(Isabelle) ok pretend you are sitting on a chair....

(Nick) o...k....*gives Izzy a confused look*

(Isabelle) *rolls eyes* I didn't say IMAGINE you are sitting on a chair I said pretend....like a wall sit...only no wall

(Nick) OH! Ok, I was confused...I'm better now *attempts to sit on an invisible chair and falls*

(Kevin) HA! Oh sorry dude...I moved your chair over there...my bad *smirk*

(Isabelle) *giggle* maybe we should move to the wall.... *moves over to the gym wall* ok now do a wall sit *both boys obediently do so* alright...look at the position of your knees in reference to your feet... THAT is the position you should be in when going into your handspring...why don't you give one a shot...remember your chair

*Nick attempts his back handspring again*

(Isabelle) better...remember your chair though...your knees are extending over your toes too much , and you are doing a step out...are you meaning to do that?

(Nick) I'm...not sure, what do you mean?

(Isabelle) they are two different skills....there is a handspring *demonstrates* and then there is a handspring stepout *demonstrates* see the difference? The step out ends like a cartwheel...the regular ends like a back tuck

(Nick) oh...um... I dunno...what's the difference? I mean besides the ending?

(Isabelle) well, the handspring is usually used as a bridge type element in a pass...because it ends you in a position to do another skill....a step out usually is more of a finishing element...so if you are wanting to just do one flip...a step out would be the way to go

(Nick) ok...I think you lost me, I'm better with visuals I guess *shrug*

(Isabelle) *rolling eyes* ok.... here ... roundoff back handspring layout *demonstrates* because the handspring lands you on both feet at the same time you are already bouncing into the air...allowing for the third element...OR you could do the step out...which kinda finishes the pass... roundoff back handspring step out *demonstrates*

(Nick) I'm going to say the second one...

(Isabelle) Ok...good to know...what about you Kevin?

(Kevin) oh...I probably wont be doing any flipping seeing as how I am holding a guitar the entire time *smile* I'm just here for the experience mostly

(Isabelle) *giggles* ok...so REALLY what these sessions are for is to teach Nick...because with you holding the guitar and Joe's serious lack of knowledge of his place in space...Nick's going to be doing the only elements on stage...correct?

(Nick) *laughing* yea...pretty much

(Isabelle) ok, so no offense Kevin because I like having you here but why not just schedule private lessons just one on one?

(Kevin) we pretty much do everything together...plus Dad just thought it would be good if we all took lessons...I don't know, maybe he thinks it will help Joe be less awkward *shrugs* although I'm sure Nick wouldn't object to a little one on one *smirks*

*Nick quickly replies with an elbow jab to Kevin's ribs*
