Our love is stronger than life itself

Summer time and nothing to do... No games to play and nowhere to run off to, what are a couple of California girls like us going to do? Run this town sick, that's what. We've got some great guys and dudes here, waiting on an angel like me. I'm Misty Melisande, walking down this hot side walk, looking at the palm trees, they're just as pretty as me... I'm standing here thinking about the guys I'd like to meet next, considering the whole speed dating thing didn't work out. I remember the first candidate, the dweeb who lived off of video games...

"This is what happens when you lose, Misty. You know, y-you know..." He kept stuttering with his lip getting caught in his braces. Spitting and fixing his clunky headset, he kept pushing buttons faster than Sonic the hedgehog. "I mean once you drop the bomb on 'Metal Solid Rough Hard Brittle Break the Ground Peeps', there's no playing outside, eating ice cream and Popsicle, and no enjoying the beach anymore! Misty- let me tell you, the sky flashes and then whoosh! There's no chance for you to lose because there's no way to go outside." I slumped into the dusty bean bag on the floor, going through my messages, I yawned and began feeling exhausted.

"The clouds outside are thick and black. The water is slick and full of sludge. The animals are sick and all the grass is dead. Trees are gone, ice has melted, old roads are flooded and new ones are filled with trash." he smacked my phone as he shook the remote, knocking my phone into my Starbucks latte. He wasn't worth my upgrade, but still... He had to be the worst boy to have a date with, we spent hours playing the dumbest video game in history... Then- there was the eco-friendly freak.

"This is the cause of pollution, the shoes and clothes you wear! You flip your hair and spray it with those harsh chemicals, but that's not doing anything to keep oxygen in our o-zone! Scientists and government officials worldwide are trying to move everyone on the planet Earth to other locations, because our planet is dying!" sitting in the movie theater seat, he kept fluffing my hair to check it's contents. Hacking loudly to exaggerate my pollution I was "bathed in" completely, he called the attention of nearly every movie watcher.

"As sad as it is to say, our planet has been affected by pollution to the point where it is nearly completely sick and uninhabitable. We only have a matter of time before this grim fate comes for us, where you need hazmat suits to go outside and you have to treat the air and water inside only your home to live." he was speaking over the movie and losing my attention every second. But hat night wasn't the only pain, he constantly had to find a "better" way. Natural groceries, ban pesticides, protest against non-vegetarian citizens, etc...

Oh he was a nightmare, before we broke up he kept trying to change my fashions and give me the boho-chic look. It had to be the worst makeover I've ever experienced... And last but not least, the point Dexter, Mr. Carbon footprint...

"There's no way that this future should have to approach us, Misty. We need to take care of our world. This sphere has belonged to us since humans first existed, before that, hopefully after that. Scientifically speaking, we can't let it escape from us now. The pollution from previous events might still be there, but there's no reason why we can't stop additional pollution from spreading." I looked at him like he had two heads. We're sitting at the beach, on a once marvelous date, and this is the topic today?

"How do you suppose I do that?" I mumbled under my breath.

"Oh, oh the way to do that is very simple, buy a hybrid car honey." Flipping his greasy hair back, he looked me over twice, "All you need is a way to get organic groceries in a bag that is re-washable and reusable."

I sat on the sand and looked at the setting sun, he was wasting up tons of time on this subject... I could barely keep focus, yet he was absorbing geological facts like a sponge. How- dry...
