I am the last girl on Earth. People thought this would never happen. They used it as sayings about a thousand years ago. Now it has come true. Everyone wants to date me, and I mean literally. They want to try and repopulate the girls. Not a single one cares about me. Don't get me wrong, I find that great, I always wanted a girlfriend to talk to. Now that the last girl died, I have been so lonely.
When I was born, my mom died. Then they only had one girl other than me. We were best friends. I was always at her house. When I wasn't there, she was with me at my house. We never separated because we got along and were scared. We we scared of being the last girl on Earth. If you were us, you would be too. The only day that I wasn't with her was the day she was killed. Someone in a red vehicle hit her, killing her instantly. That night, I cried more than I ever cried. Now I am just lonely and wish for another girl to come along. Finally my wishes come true at a park on a warm September evening.
"Hello. My name is Lily. Nice to meet you."
Lily has long, curly blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She wears glasses also. She has fair skin and is five foot eight. The almost complete opposite of me. I have ocean blue eyes, brunette hair, and no glasses. I also am dark tan because I am always outside. My height is five foot five. She also has a high pitch voice to my semi-deep voice. As deep as a girl's voice can be I guess.
"Oh my, hello! My name is Lauren. I thought I was the last girl on Earth. Where did you come from?"
"I am your next door neighbor. We just moved. I only have my father left. What about you?"
"Same as you. I had a best friend, but she was killed three years ago." I say, trying to hold in tears. "Why did you move? Was it because all of the boys wanted to marry you? If so, I know how you feel." Then I realize that I interrupted her. "Sorry."
"It's fine. And yeah, my father didn't like how all of the boys were. He moved us here hoping that you guys have some decent boys around here. How are they? Do they bug you?"
"Yeah. They are pretty bad at realizing that you aren't listening to them. They are pretty good if you can get passed that."
"Great! Want to eat dinner with us? You can invite your dad so they can meet. I have a feeling that we will be great friends!"
"Me too. And speaking of the devils, here comes a new one." I move Lily to the side to see a brunette head, brown eyed, tall boy that I have never seen before, and he is actually kind of cute.
"Hello girls? I thought that there was only one girl here. Her name is Lauren? Who is Lauren?"
"That would be me. And who is asking?"
"Hello sweetheart. My name is Brad. Who is you friend that I have never seen before. And just so you know, I know you pretty well." the new boy, Brad, says while laughing.
"Her name is Lily. She just moved here with her dad, so I would watch out. What do you want?"
"I want you to give me a chance. I heard that you turn down everyone that you date, and I want to be the one to change that. You are beautiful. Yeah, you don't know me, but like I said, I know you. You like to paint your nails pale pink. You read everyday in the library to the little boys. You had a best friend that you always were with. I was that boy always in the shadows. I guess you can call me a creeper, but that is not true. We just always happen to be at the same place at the same time. I go to the library everyday because my brother loves to listen to you read. You always go to the same guy to get your nails done, and I have to say, he does a great job. Your friend was always there with you when you read back then. I just want you to give me a chance because I technically gave one to you. What do you say, tomorrow at six?"
"Sure." I say giggling. I did notice him, but I didn't know that he was cute and cared about me. Well kind of cared.
"I just got a buzz. Dinner is ready, Lauren. We still have to ask your dad. Let's go before it gets cold."
"I guess that means goodbye for today Lauren. See you tomorrow. I will pick you up at five fifty."
"See you then."
That night after dinner, I kept thinking about Brad. Then I think about Lily. I really thought that I was the last girl here because that is what I was always told. Now I have a best friend and I guess a boyfriend. Life can't get any better.
I don't know when I fall asleep, but I never wanted to get up. Then I remember that I have a date. Then I look at the clock and see that I only have three hours to take a shower, do my hair, and find an outfit. This is the same routine I do every time. This time is different though. He is actually a good person that I like.
At five forty-nine, there is a knock on the door. I answer it and it is Lily.
"Is he here yet? You look gorgeous! I can't wait to here all about it after! Can I stay the night after?"
"Sure. And thanks. And no, he is not here." I say laughing as someone else knocks on the door. "Now he is." And sure enough, he is.
"Hey Lauren, hey Lily. Where is your dad? I want to meet him while I'm here."
"He is at work. He should be here in about twenty minutes. And hey."
After he finally gets a good look at me he talks again. "You look ravishing! You know you don't have to get all pretty for me, though. I have seen you with minimal makeup and normal clothes. You don't need to impress me. I mean, you can if you want. By the way, we really need to get going. I'll be in the truck while you lock up."
"See you." Then I turn to Lily. "I will text you when I get back. My dad will let you stay because I like you. If you were a brat and made me not happy, you wouldn't be able to stay. But you are not, so you can. And I'm joking. I haven't been able to joke around for three years, so it's nice. See you later." I lock the door after Lily walks out and I start walking to his very old Dodge. They don't make Dodges anymore.
"We are going to a very special place. You will figure out pretty soon, but until then, it is a secret." He then starts to chuckle. It's pretty cute.
After some time, we arrive at the park we were at yesterday. Then I realize we are going to have a picnic. Brad gets a basket out the back confirming my guess. He also grabs a stereo.
"I thought we could talk and dance." And that is exactly what we did. We did that for seven years. And we are happy.
Lily found her a boy also. He has blonde hair, grey eyes, and is just her height. They got married last month. We wanted our wedding at the same time, but then she found out that she was having a baby. And it's a girl!
My dad, even though I never talked about him, died six months ago, but I'm fine.
Our wedding just ended and everyone cried. Males crying is not as bad as I thought. But that also means that they will die with no one unless they marry another male. That is what happened everywhere else and they seem happy.
Just because you think you are alone in the world doesn't mean that it is true. That is your opinion. You will find a great friend that will help you through thick and thin. You will also find someone that you love and they love you back. It is not the end of the world. You are not alone in the world.
