"So are you gonna tell me about your mark?"Ace took off his jacket and tugged on his shirt lightly to reveal a deep blood red rose with a spider crawling up the stem. I caught my breath. This can't be right.
"I have to go." I said grabbing my bag.
Ace looked heart broken and concerned."Wait! Please don't go." he called out
but it was too late. I ran out of the restaurant, into the parking lot. I held my head in my hands pulling on my hair in frustration. What made it worse was that Ace wasn't coming after me. Suddenly I felt pressure on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw a tall pale man with dirty blonde hair."Are you ok darling?" he asked. I shook my head no. He pulled me into a hug.
"Here, come with me." We walked towards what I assumed was his motorcycle. As he placed the helmet on my head he asked, "What's your name?"
"Tara. Yours?"
"Colson."
"How can I trust you? I don't even know you." I was starting to get worried.
He pulled up his sleeve to reveal the mark of a Canbit.
Canbits were a trustworthy and honest colony, held highly by the local community.I allowed him to help me on the bike. Once Colson was on I wrapped my arms around his slim waist.
The last thing I saw before we pulled out of the parking lot was the face of a man with pure jealousy in his heart. And that man was Ace.
