Chapter 10

The narrow alley was left alone, isolated from the main road as lights started to fade away. It was so quiet and peaceful at night time. Stars shone from above and the moon, appeared in a banana shape, which some babies had mistakenly called it where banana fell form the sky. They would often force their parents to go out late at night, sit aimlessly on the street, waiting for bananas to 'fall' from the moon. The trapdoor, or the door that led to the sewage system, was closed automatically.

Following the dark and dirty path, Alesha was trembling with tears, all she wanted was home, her sweet home. She didn't like the feeling in the sewage hole. It was full of garbage and rotten food. Alesha wanted to know where it would end, not knowing that she was in grave danger. The path had a low ceiling, an adult would fit perfectly if he or she wandered into this awkward place. Exploring and strolling, she crashed onto a wall. It was slimy and smelly, now her face was with dark marks on. Before long, she realised that she had walked straight into a dead end. Just great, now all I have to do is- Madeleine might land somewhere here! Alesha's eyes sparkled. She trod with big steps and heavy footsteps.

Aahhhhhh! She heard a ear piercing scream from a girl at the far end. She breathed heavily and panicked. Bolting towards the noise, she caught sight of some people.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

She froze and collapsed. Then in a tick, she blacked out, lying on the ground.

Alesha woke up and she felt her eyelids growing heavier and heavier every time she blinked. Once, tired. Twice, exhausted. Third time, weary. Fourth, sleeping. As she dozed off  to sleep, she heard a faint cry, not far from her, but it sounded very much like Madeleine. It was darker than when she came in. Before long, she suddenly realised that she was tied up on the wall with rope. She shook her body uncontrollably, but still, she struggled to get herself free.

"It's useless, girl. I am watching you." A low and deep voice toned.

"Alesha!"

"Madeleine!"

"Claudia!"

Three ladies hollered in that order for a few times, but nobody answered them. They hung their head low and let out a long and deep sigh.

"Urghh... we'll never be able to find them... let's just g-"

"NOBODY IS TURNING BACK! AT LEAST THE PERSON WHO TURNS BACK IS AN IDIOT!" Madam Puddifoot said bitterly.

The other two were the mother of Madeleine and Alesha, desperate to hide from their fear of darkness and the fact that their daughter was missing. Madam Puddifoot, who didn't want to fail Potter was irritated by the two 'useless' mothers.

"IF YOU WERE MISSING AND YOUR MOTHER TURNED BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEARCH, WOULD YOU LIKE IT? NO!"

They stood as still as a stature with their mouth hung wide. Their legs were trembling non-stop with fear and sweated.

"Look, I'm sorry that I've been so mad at you two but it's just that you have to have faith in yourself. We can find who we want. This is the part where you can choose to go away and leave your daughter alone. This is your choice, but if you go away, she will hate you if she ever comes back. Remember this night." Madam Puddifoot whispered, as she continued her search.

They knew every corner of Hogsmeade, well at least on top of the land, but not underground, where rubbish and sewage all meet up. They had no idea about what it was like down there. They never knew anything about it, they don't even teach them underground knowledge of Hogwarts, except when you chose to have muggle studies as one of your lessons.

"I'll...I'll...stay and find my beloved daughter."

"Me too!"

"That's the attitude you guys should have had from the start of the search. Now, ladies, let's go!" Madam Puddifoot seemed to have been hyper. However, the joyfulness didn't last long, her expression went serious again.

"Amira, they couldn't have gone so far out to the woods!" Madam Puddifoot commented.

"Maybe they got carried away by the snow." Amirah, who was Madeleine's mum answered.

"It's not like the first time they's seen the snow. Duh!" Vanessa, Alesha's mum snapped.

"Well duh! First time in a year!"

"So?"

"Stop acting like irritating children! C'mon, let's get to REAL work." Madam Puddifoot rolled her eyes.

She led the two ladies into the forest which separated Hogsmeade from Hogwarts.

"Lumos" Madam Puddifoot muttered.

"I really don't think they could have gone to Hogwarts." Vanessa stated.

"We should find a place where there will be a lot of snow!" Amira suggested.

Madam Puddifoot stopped and contemplated for a while, then she turned and headed towards the three broomsticks.

"Why would snow be there when-"

"SHUT UP! WILL YOU JUST FOLLOW ME?" Madam Puddifoot exclaimed.

They trotted to the three broomsticks and Madam Puddifoot crept to the back of the building.

"She's such an old hag." Amira muttered under her breath.

"I heard it!" Madam Puddifoot frowned.

Dragging Joanne out into the small storage room of the Hospital Wing, Hermione yelled for help. Joanne couldn't do anything, she thought that she needed a wand, that was the only thing she thought of now, except of Hermione. Joanne turned her head round, and stared at Hermione, but Madam Pomfrey  pushed her.

Suddenly, she caught grip of Joanne and forced her to be squashed onto the wall. A shiver ran down her spine as Madam Pomfrey spoke.

"Where do you live?"

"You have to keep your personal information secret." As Joanne recalled what Hermione said before.

She remained silent.

"Where do you live?" Madam Pomfrey barked, squishing Joanne even more tightly.

"Being a nurse doesn't require to know where I live, right Mr. Nosy Parker?"

"Urghhh! You must answer me!" For one second, her right hand let go of Joanne, she reached for her wand and pointed at her neck.

"I'm never going to tell you!" Joanne shirked.

"If you tell me, I will free Hermione!"

Joanne thought for a while, she thought about herself, she thought about Hermione, she thought about the evil Madam Pomfrey. A amazing idea rushed into her mind.

"Okay." She pointed out to the window. For that one second when Madam Pomfrey turned and looked outside, Joanne bolted away, trying to get out of harm's way.

By the time Madam Pomfrey noticed that, Joanne was going nearer and nearer to Hermione. Madam Pomfrey aimed her wand at Joanne,

"Avada Kedavra!" The spell hit Joanne on her back and Joanne collapsed instantly.

"NO!!" Hermione hollered.
