Temari's POV
The next day, I woke up and remembered I had a meeting with Tsunade Sama in about two hours. So I got up, took a shower, dressed and fixed my hair. I looked at my reflection and winced. I still looked like a mess... And for some strange reason, I didn't want to look like one. So, I grabbed my foundation and applied some to my cheeks and forehead. I then applied some mascara and just a little bit of lipstick to make my lips pop. I looked at my reflection and furrowed my eyebrows. I looked pretty... But why did I want to look pretty? I didn't usually pay that much attention to my look. I sighed. Things were getting weird. I looked at my clock and realized I had one free hour before I needed to meet with the Hokage. So, naturally, I decided to head to the Nara compound to, uh... You know... Tell my bodyguard to get ready to accompany me to the meeting. Not that I wanted to see him. Nope. That was not the case at all. I stood outside Shikamaru's house and knocked lightly. A few seconds later, a woman opened the door with a smile.
-" Yes? Can I help you?"- She asked. I blushed.
-" Oh! Uh... Yeah. Hi Mrs. Nara... I don't know if you remember me... I'm Sabaku Temari."- I said. She smiled.
-" Why of course I remember you. You're not someone people can forget about easily. Plus, Shikamaru told me that he was guarding you. It's lovely to see you. My, how you've grown! Anyway, what brings you here?"- She asked.
-" Well, Shikamaru needs to come to a meeting with Tsunade Sama... So I came to pick him up."- I said. She grunted.
-" That Baka is still sleeping! I'll go wake him up. Please, come in."- She said with a sadistic smile. I sweat dropped and entered. I sat down in the couch and waited. After 20 minutes, Mrs. Nara and Shikamaru came out. Shikamaru frowned.
-" Dammit Temari! I was still sleeping."- He said with a yawn.
-" Oh, sorry about it lazy ass."- I sarcastically retorted. He smirked.
-" Troublesome woman."- He said. I rolled my eyes.
-" Whatever. We should go. Thank you Mrs. Nara, it was wonderful to see you again."- I said. She smiled.
-" And you, Temari dear. You'll have to come dine with us sooner or later."- She said with a wink. I giggled and we left towards the Hokage building. As we walked out of the compound I smiled.
-" Your mom is so nice..."- I said. Shikamaru chuckled.
-" Yeah, she's okay, she's scary when she wants to be though."- He said. I chuckled.
-" Only with you. She's always been really nice to me."- I said. He shrugged.
-" I guess. How was your night?"- He asked.
-" It was okay. I slept for the most part. Yours?"- I asked. He shrugged.
-" Busy."- He said. I raised an eyebrow. He looked at me in confusion for a second and then blushed madly as he got the joke. -" That's not what I meant, baka! Busy with paperwork!"- He exclaimed with his newly crimson-tinted face. I laughed.
-" Yeah, yeah. Whatever."- I said with an amused expression. He huffed. We got to the Hokage building and Shikamaru started rubbing his neck.
-" Go to your meeting. You don't want to be late."- He said. I chuckled.
-" Okay."- I started to turn around, but Shikamaru grabbed my shoulder. I turned in confusion.
-" Wanna hang out after the meeting?"- He asked. For some unknown reason, I blushed.
-" Uh...What do you wanna do?"- I asked with uncertainty. He shrugged.
-" I don't have anything specific in mind. Anyway, do you want to?"- He asked.
-" Yeah... Sure. I don't know how long this meeting will take though."- I said.
-" No problem. I'll wait."- He said.
-" Okay..."- I said and left. I entered the empty halls of the Hokage tower, but I immediately felt strange. There was something wrong... I carefully walked, looking around in case I found something suspicious. But, I reached Tsunade's office without much of a fuzz. -"Perhaps it's my imagination..."- I thought. I knocked on the door and a very drunk Tsunade opened it.
-" Temari! What a surprise! What brings you here?"- She asked, her words sounding sloppy.
-" Uh... Didn't we have a meeting?"- I asked, sweat dropping. She raised an eyebrow.
-" Did we? Man, I've been so busy that I forgot."- She said and chuckled. My eye twitched.
-" Yeah, I can see that."- I said.
-" Shall we postpone the meeting? Oh, what the hell, let's just cancel it."- She said with a bright smile and slammed the door shut.
-" Okay then?"- I asked and sighed. I was about to turn around when I felt a sharp sting on my neck. -" Ah!"- I exclaimed in pain. I brought my finger at to my neck and retrieved it only to find them smudged with blood. -" Son of a..."- I began, but stopped when I started feeling dizzy. I saw blackness at the edge of my vision and fell to my knees. I started crawling. I tried to call for help, but my throat was sore. I looked up and the last thing I saw before falling into blissful unconsciousness was a masked man.Shikamaru's POV
I anxiously looked at the time. It had been more than three hours since Temari went in the building. Meetings weren't supposed to take that long... Were they? Should I go in? Or would that be intrusive? I was deciding between going in or not when I saw Shizune come out.
-" Oi, Shizune!"- I called and sprinted towards her. She smiled.
-" Shikamaru Kun! What are you doing here?"- She asked, somewhat nervously. I raised an eyebrow.
-" Why are you acting so weird?"- I asked.
-" Well, to tell you the truth I just can't allow you to go see Tsunade Sama. She's in no condition for visits."- She said with a chuckle while rubbing her head.
-" That's not why I'm here."- I informed.
-" It's not?"- She asked, confused.
-" No. I'm here looking for Temari."- I said.
-" Temari Senpai? I told you Tsunade Sama hasn't received anyone today. Yes, Temari Senpai came, but Tsunade Sama blew her off."- She said. I furrowed my eyebrows.
-" Wait, so she's not here?"- I asked. Shizune shook her head and left. Temari... Where are you?Temari's POV
I grunted and sat up to find myself in a strange, dark room. My eyes narrowed.
-" Is anyone here?"- I asked. A chuckle came from the very back of the room and the mysterious masked man approached me. -" Who the hell are you? What do you want with me? Where am I? Answer me you bastard!"- I demanded forcefully. The man chuckled again.
-" So many questions. Curiosity killed the cat, you know?"- He said. I furrowed my eyebrows. He sounded familiar... But I couldn't quite grasp whose voice it was.
-" Just answer."- I demanded.
-" You're in no place to make demands, are you Sabakuno? I just wanted to give you a warning. The time to begin the ritual is approaching, and trust me, you don't want your friends to get involved. So, if you want me to spare them, you need to stop pampering the Nara boy."- He warned. I raised an eyebrow.
-" I'm not pampering anybody, idiot. We're friends."- I said. He approached me and cupped my face.
-" I'm just warning you sweetheart. It's your call if you listen to me or not. Oh, and don't you dare tell anyone about this meeting."- He said. I snorted.
-" Meeting? Don't you mean abduction?"- I asked. He slapped me.
-" Don't talk to me that way woman! Now, don't tell anyone about this or someone's gonna get killed. Understood?"- He asked. I nodded reluctantly.
-" Good. You're free to go. But I swear, if you do anything funny you'll regret it."- He warned. I wouldn't attack, I knew better than that. Not any idiot managed to capture me. So when he released me I just walked out the door. I realized we were still in Konoha, but it was early night already. I sighed and went looking for a certain pineapple headed dork. And I can't say I wasn't surprised when I found him waiting in front of my hotel. He looked up and when he saw me his tense features immediately relaxed. He stood up throwing his arms in the air in annoyance.
-" What the fuck Temari? Where have you been?"- He asked. I shrugged.
-" There were some urgent matters from Suna that needed to be taken care of."- I lied. He furrowed his eyebrows.
-" Well, you could've told me instead of leaving me in front of the Hokage tower for hours."- He said.
-" Well, I guess you're right. Sorry. Will do next time."- I said. He let out a frustrated breath.
-" Fine. Whatever."- He said.
-" You know, I'm actually really tired so I think I'm just gonna go to bed."- I said. He nodded.
-" Yeah, me too. It's been a long day of worrying over nothing."- He said, muttering the last part so I couldn't understand a word.
-" What did you say?"- I asked.
-" Oh, nothing."- He said, a small blush creeping up his cheeks. I furrowed my eyebrows.
-" Okay then. Good night Shikamaru."- I said and went inside my hotel, not bothering to even let him reply.
