~~~~~~~In the perfect world, happiness wouldn't be a question. In a perfect world, pain wouldn't exist and people wouldn't be so cruel. This world, this world is so far from being the perfect world. Misery and torment lurks around every corner, shadows reach out from the darkness and claw at you. Digging into your skin and ripping away everything good in you with a painful jerk. It lets your life ooze out of you. Blood staining your perfect fantasies. Destroying everything you thought you could become.
In a perfect world, that girl would have kept her innocence, her dress would've stayed that pure white that hugged her body just right - her favorite dress. She never would have been cornered and pushed against a wall in a dark alley, feeling her skin scrape against the cold brick. Hands trailing along her small body as she squirms frantically against her attacker, her desperate cries for help muffled by a ruthless hand. She never would have been stripped down to nothing as a group of men surround her, her dress torn and thrown to the side as hands grab at her, wanting to claim her as their own. Thrown onto the hard floor as one after the other they climb on top of her- violating her. Over and over. Her cries go meaningless into the night, distant echoes that people either don't hear or choose to ignore. Her small whimpers are overpowered by animalistic grunts and menacing laughs. There's no one around to save her.
In a perfect world that girl would not have been left in that alley, after having the most precious thing a girl can have ripped away from her. Laying bloody and covered in bruises, she doesn't know what else to do other than to curl up into a ball and cry while her attackers walk off laughing and joking, like they hadn't just raped a small child. Like they hadn't just ruined a life. Thrown away a fantasy the girl had of finding 'the one', that was all gone. In a few minutes they took everything from her. She was found in that alley, on the brink of death and sobbing that her body shook violently despite her weakness. Her favorite dress draped over her small frame. No longer white. It was stained now, not only by specks of red. It was stained with traumatic memories that will haunt her for the rest of her life.
In a perfect world, they would've found who did this to her, but this not a perfect world and no one was found guilty for the crime that was committed and her case was dismissed - like it never happened, but for her, it kept happening everyday in her mind. They had blamed that white dress, said that if she hadn't dressed so revealing then maybe it wouldn't have happened to her. Maybe it wouldn't have happened if she didn't wear that white dress. They made it her fault. A small child, not fully aware of all the aspects of the world. It was her fault. Why? Because the world is cruel and it's easier to place the blame on the victim right in front of them, then to have to find the people really at fault. Because in a perfect world, the victim wouldn't be blamed for something that isn't their fault.
In a perfect world, she would've been okay, instead, she took her own life because she couldn't deal with the imagines that flashed before her when she closed her eyes, the torture of knowing that she was no longer innocent and that it wasn't her choice for it to be that way. She couldn't deal the constant paranoia that it would happen again, every time someone would try and touch her, she would burst into tears and crumple to the floor in a mess of anxiety. In a perfect world, she wouldn't have been blamed for the things that happened to her. She couldn't handle it being, 'her fault' anymore. In a perfect world, that girl could have been something, but this is not a perfect world and that girl ended up broken. That girl ended up dead. Stained by the cruelty of the world.
In a perfect world it wouldn't be so easy to destroy the beautiful. We would try our hardest to keep the beauty alive, to keep those radiant smiles on those peoples faces. We would help each other out and we would love each other beyond what we love ourselves. This world, however, is very far from being the perfect world. We see beauty and we destroy it, we try and claim it as our own and that's what takes the beauty away. Beauty can never belong to anyone or anything. As the perfect world can never belong to humans. We could've had the perfect world, but we destroyed it.
