"What are you saying?" My mother frantically asks.
"Well, Mrs. Abner. Samantha here has Melanoma."
"Doctor, how long does she have?"
"About 1-2 months."I sighed as my mom cried to my doctor. I honestly don't know why I'm not showing any emotion. I'm ready to die.
He handed my mom pamphlet after pamphlet of useless information we won't need.
After that he sent us out the door.
I walked to my moms car and got in. I practically melted into the seat. She got in and gave me a stern look.
"What?"
"You're not depressed about this? The fact that you have a terminal cancer doesn't damper your mood one bit?"I thought about what my mother said. Nope. It doesn't make me depressed at all. I looked at her weirdly.
"What do you want me to do? Be depressed?" I asked her.
She pulled out of the parking lot and onto the freeway.
"Well, no, honey."
"Exactly. I'm gonna live life to the fullest."
She drove in silence as we drove back to our ghetto neighborhood.
We got in the driveway And I hopped out of the car and ran into the house.
I knew the one thing I had to complete before I die. My bucket list.
I searched my room for my list. I always hide it under my mattress.
I grabbed the piece of paper and unfolded it as my smile grew bigger.
"This is gonna be the best two months ever."
