"Clara!" called my mom, I hurried down the stairs quickly. "I have some great news!" she said giddily. I smiled fakely, I wasn't really in the mood to chat. I had humiliated myself again, trying to talk to Jamie, the most adorable guy in the eighth grade also my crush (but we have no chance with Rayna Stewart around, she's just perfect!).
"The head of the acting department just called from your academy and he wants you ... to be the director and creator of the next play!" she smiled expecting me to freak out hysterically. But No.
My jaw dropped to the ground. I mean me, me really the shyest girl in the whole school!?Like I just moved here to Abrocrombe like two months ago. I mean like why couldn't they pick Rayna Stewart. She's like head and director of everything at this academy! I mean look at her she's popular and good-looking and she's loaded too. I mean she can finance the entire performance with her allowance for the week! She's a great actor too I mean better than me for sure I acted a little bit at my old school in Guini (pronounced-Juni) okay maybe a lot a bit but not like in every single play, well maybe every single play. BUT that doesn't matter she still would be better for the position.
"You'll be getting your 'crew' tomorrow... did you see me using 'dat slang tho'!" she said beaming. I smiled not really caring, but I clapped to be supportive. I mean we moved here to Abrocrombe because her mother was sick and we were here to take care of her. That's why my dad got a job as an art teacher at my really expensive private college preparatory school. That's the only way we could afford it.
I smiled again, thanked her, and hugged her then I walked up the stairs to my shamrock-colored room flopped down on my squishy bed and though, thought 'what the heck am I going to do'?
