This time I'm glad he always pops up. While Brandon was keeping my father busy, I make a run for it. I don't have a phone and there isn't enough time to search to see if Brandon has one, so I head for Brandon's house. Knock knock knock. No one answers. Fuck.
Father's running toward me. Where's Brandon? What happened? My mind is telling me to run but my body is frozen. I hear a gun shot. He's down.
"Are you okay sweetheart?" A female police officer asks me. I ignored her and made my way back to my house. Brandon was sitting on the couch, holding an ice pack on his eye, with a paramedic sitting to his right. They were speaking. But when Brandon noticed me, he got up and walked in my direction.
"I'm sorry, Lydia."
