My name is Carter Rosewood and this is the story of how I was rejected and saved. First off I'm not some average adult, but I am an average werewolf. A werewolf that has been part of the Silver Claw pack since I was born. I have never left this home that I've known all my life until an unfortunate event happened to befall me. That event is the catalyst to the end of my very ordinary life and the beginning of my very interesting one.

Today is going to be a good day I try to tell myself in reassurance because of the bad feeling I've had all day. Who knows maybe I might even find your mate by bumping into him in the street. That's always a possibility for all the single and ready werewolves out there, but for me I highly doubt ever encountering my mate. You see werewolves are born with high metabolism that allows us to eat a lot and burn it off quickly for energy for ourselves and our wolves. The problem with me is that I didn't get the high metabolism gene like the rest of the pack. So I still eat a lot to keep me and my wolf healthy but it doesn't burn as quickly as it is meant to, letting the fat build up and take a shape that closely resembles the Pillsbury dough boy. Yes I am an overweight werewolf, unheard of yes but I can deal with it. It's everybody else who can't, but I think they are slowly coming around to the idea that it doesn't matter. I mean look I finally made a friend who will actually talk to me instead of whispering behind my back about what a disgrace I am. Not that I'm not used to that either like how when I was growing up all the guys would pray to the moon goddess so they wouldn't get me as a mate. Or how in high school I was completely pushed away and forced to make friends with the humans, when the pack were meant to stick together, to combat my loneliness.

Finding my mate is actually a very scary prospect for me since the possibility of rejection is very real. Even though I have a bad feeling I still have to be a responsible adult and go to work like every other member of the pack. Our pack is the largest pack in Washington. We don't just have major influence in the supernatural world but also in the human world. Our pack or should I say the alpha is the head of a major trading company that trades globally and locally. Most of the members from the pack go and work for the company to help support the packs economy and I am one of those people. Sighing I leave the house dressed all professional as per the dress code.

Walking to the bus stop I see that the bus is ahead of me and is on its way to the stop before I get there and if I don't run I'm probably going to miss it. Do you know how uncomfortable it is to run in a tight shirt and heels? It's practically hell. After the short journey to the bus stop near work I start heading toward the nearby Starbucks so that I could order my bosses coffee. Yep you guessed it I am a secretary, but I can't say that I hate the job...oh wait yes I can as long as I say it in my head. I wouldn't want to somehow be overheard complaining about pack duties by the alpha because that is one mean looking dude. Our alpha is Derek Silver notorious business man and fierce alpha. He is not someone you want to mess with. Since our pack is huge not everybody meets the alpha, we are spread all over Washington and only joined together when called.

All that was going through my head as I was coming back from getting the coffee I wasn't exactly paying attention to where I was going it was as if I was on auto pilot just following my everyday path. I was entering the elevator the same time someone was leaving and because I wasn't paying attention I couldn't stop myself from losing my balance and unceremoniously falling against that person's hard chest along with the contents that were inside the cup that was formerly inside my grasp. Let's just say the coffee ended up everywhere but the inside of the cup.

I looked up horrified at what I'd done when suddenly strong arms wrapped around my waste and pulled me with him deeper inside the elevator right before the doors closed on me. Too late for escape now. I see his arm reach out press number 50 the top floor, confused since that's the boss's floor, I look up at the man face and gasp.
