After the second Wizarding War, it seemed the entire wizarding world mistrusted Slytherins as much as the Death Eaters detested Muggleborns, and the number of incoming Slytherins seemed to reduce each year. The new Slytherins were treated as potential Dark Wizards.
It was Albus Severus Potter who changed that.
