Afraid to drown. Afraid to sink. Afraid to fall beneath the shadows. Afraid to lose that last shred of hope inside of me. Afraid to lose my last tether to reality. Afraid to lose him.
But the fear only kept me alive for so long. And then, all too vividly, my fears came alive and pushed me under the darkened water that had eventually become my subconscious. I could drown a storm or blaze a forest fire, but either way, the only way I was getting out of this was either a chaotic mess or a Phoenix. I knew which one I was aiming for. This time, I'd hit my target.
