Chapter Four
Sky's POV
-
Things had been strange since I saw her. Mary was no longer talking to me and when I asked her about it she said that she was practicing for more competitions the fact that I refused to see her swimming probably annoyed her and Stan was more teasing me about my holiday. Walking in my house with Stan holding my hips I felt like a 14 year old that had just got an allowance. Happy. Opening the door to the flat my dad was shouting very loudly down the phone to someone about something – I left Stan at the door and walked to the office door... “Yes Yes Yes! I am sending him there...” What? “Look Jane, Do what you want he’ll be there at some point okay I have a few things to work out first” ...?... “Yerh I miss you too, How many years now – Thank goodness it will be over soon”... I opened the door and he stopped and put the phone down straight away.
“Who you talking to?” I was so confused who was he talking about and who was he talking too.
“Don’t worry son – Is Stan here?” I nodded “Good... I have work to do, so I’ll give you some money and you can get some pizza or something at your favourite restaurant” His expression was hard and not the mood to be playing around and asking him stuff. I sighed, pizza it was.
“Hmmm. Okay” I nodded and took the money that he had placed out in his hand.
....
After leaving for dinner I was baffled at what happened earlier with dad, what was he talking about and what the hell was saying, I didn’t want to confused to even tell Stan but even though I was being a bit distant so was he, whilst I was running things through my mind and sometimes actually remembering to eat the cheese and tomato pizza, I realised that Stan was doing the same he looked worried and nervous about something. “Hey Stan” His blonde hair was covering his eyes as he seemed to be staring at the table but his head slowly moved up and the deep chocolate brown eyes looked at me. “Handsome... Are you okay?” I said grabbing his hands and holding them in mine. He was older than me but he seemed really down today.
“Eh I am okay... What about you – you seem down...” He drifted off and looked down again at the table.
“I don’t think so, I’ll tell if you tell”
He looked up with a smile and nodded in agreement. “Good” I announced. “ I am worried about my dad – He seemed stressed earlier” It was a little lie but never the less about the same thing.
Stan sighed and looked up at me “I am worried about out trip”
“Oh why? Its going to be so much fun just me and you. You going tell me yet?” I smiled at him – trying to beam to get him excited and energetic.
“No..”
“Oh come on... Please. You know you want too...!” I went to go tickle him but he jerked away. I looked up as he stood up with his coat.
“I have to go sky – I am sorry, I’ll call you in the morning I have a few important things to do” - I was gobsmacked, what the hell was with everyone at the moment. I left the money on the table and left straight after Stan, in hope to catch up with him but to my displeasure he was gone and I walked straight into Mary.
“Hey” She whispered, she was wearing a faded black coat that had brown fluff around the edges of the hood, she had stopped and barely looked up at me, the tone in her voice suggested that she had been crying and hearing her snuffing as quietly as she could brought out a primal instinct as I almost ripped her arm off as I took her to the corner of the street. As I marched over to the end of the block and checked for spotlessness I sat down and pulled her into my chest she never pulled away, just following suit. We were both silent until her tears overwhelmed her and forced her to break down into my chest, causing my shirt to get wet – I didn’t mind though she was worth it. I would wait until she was ready to talk.
