And I miss warmer nights
Like I miss her

The lyrics remained a constant ringing inside Ellie's head even after the performance was over. The crowd, as usual, was buzzing through it all. Drunken guys yelling in the midst of songs, screaming fangirls disrupting slow ballads, couples making out for hours on end - Ellie was used to all of this. It had happened every time The Fused Strings performed, every time she'd been there to see them at least.

She was trying to make her way out of the disruptive crowd now. Half of the people had decided to all leave at once, making it hard to even move past the entrance. She was lucky that the remaining number had decided to stay, seemingly for the sole purposes of getting drunk and laid.

The street was dark once she had stepped out onto it. There seemed to be no other signs of life aside from the people moving past and the hustling wind. She remembered that the lights on Beaufort Street somehow had always struck out at exactly 10pm. Jesus, if that was the case, then what the bloody time was it already? Eleven? Twelve? She took out her phone; the brightness startling her for a second. It was only eleven. She released a relieved sigh. She was dialling Luke's number when a voice made her jumped.

"Record store girl" It was Fee, making her way across the crowd of moving people. Her cheeks were flushed under the dim light. Ellie assumed that she'd been drinking.

"Hey..." Ellie mustered "...again..."

Fee smiled, "You leaving already. Anyone picking you up?"

"Uh yeah...Luke...my brother."

"Aw really, dammit" Fee locked her hands behind her head "I was looking for a bus buddy. Scott abandoned me you see, told me he was gonna give me a ride back but now he's gone off to have pizza with some girl he found."

Ellie shouldn't be happy at this. But somehow she chuckled, making Fee stare at her amusingly.

"Well, I hope you'll get home safe while I'll go catch a one hour bus all by myself." Fee smiled at her, and then walked away, bringing the only glimmer of light left along with her.
